: Corbeau Seats
Bo185 05-18-2009, 05:28 PM I have Chevy Silverado buckets seats in my Scout II. I have been trying to get back into my project now and finish it! Been replaceing the floor and making other mods.
I was thinking about some different seats maybe Corbeau or something else. The chevy seats are nice comfortable and have built in seatbelts, but they are to freaking BIG for a Scout II.
So my question is, how comfortable are Corbeau seats and which model would be best for fit and comfort? I am 6'5'' but skinny so would like a high back.
I still have my Stock Scout II bucket seat bases. Or should I build a base and tie it into the cage?
Options please!
Thanks!
uglyscout 05-18-2009, 06:14 PM If you are going to be messing with the seats and bases you might as well tie them to the cage now while you have everything apart...

I am 6'2 230 (not skinny) and ride in the Corbeau SS that I won at an event. They are the all vinyl ones and I will prolly order the cloth center covers later. But they are comfortable as heck. Now for the high back, they leave a little to be desired. I think the top of the seat rests about 1/4 way up the back of my head. I ended up using Corbeau's sliders and making a mount to go to my previous modded floor for the van bases/seats I previously ran. I would really like reclining but hell they were free. I would tie to cage if I were you. When I tube out the rear that'll be what I do. Not really any good pictures but here is the best I could find.
JetFxr 05-18-2009, 07:20 PM I use Corbeau seats also very comffy even on your side:eek: Just my option but you should tie them to the cage and belts also. Scout have rotten floors they are 30 years old. We put these Scouts through HELL and they were not designed to do the junk we do. What could be a bad day wheelin should never be a tragedy. Just my thoughts but safety should job one.
And I would do high backs to keep your neck safe in an accident. Mine are high backs and they are very well designed and do not restrict rear view as the head rest are directly behind your head.

ChiScouter 05-18-2009, 08:11 PM What do you plan on using the rig for once you get it done?
JetFxr 05-18-2009, 08:21 PM I don't know which model they are I bought them like fifteen years ago, they have the cloth inserts and do not recline. They now have a wider seat available, mine are a little tight on the hips but hold you firm in the worst wash boards. I got sliders these are tied to my cage so the seats have good adjustment travel. I have a Tera top so I do not need the recline on my seats.
jhnyct 05-18-2009, 08:33 PM I have a set of black vinyl Baja SS that have been in my truck for 3ish years. I am 6-2 and 190lbs. I absolutely love these seats. The sides really hug you when you are at odd angles. I would for sure use them again.

Mostly just mud and basic trails. Might take it to Hot Springs, AR OR park.
I was just thinking of using the Scout II bases bolted to the floor. I cut out all the original floor supports and add some more beef!!! But I will need seatbelts with these seats.
Diesel Smoke 05-20-2009, 01:21 AM I have a set of Corbeau Baja RS (recliner) in what use to be my DD Traveler. They were great seats, super comfortable, but tight until broken in. I use to commute about an hour each way and loved them. Even on long 3-4 hour drives they were great. My only complaint is the seats were black, but the fabric has faded over the last 2 years and now looks dark blue, and this is on a truck who's top has never been off.
Ben Segrest 05-20-2009, 07:18 AM I've got a set of Baja SS's with the sliders that adapt to the factory scout II bases. First, the sliders needed a spacer made because when I tried to bolt them to the bases, the bolt heads interfered with the slide. I used some 3/8" plate to make some super thick washers for that part. Second, I only got around to installing the drivers side, because that setup puts the seat WAY too high. I'm 6' 185 and the top of my head is almost even with the top of the roll bar. I don't know if I'm the first person to ever buy the baja SS and scout adapters or what, but it sure won't work in my scout.

I made my own adapters with as thin of material I could get away with and they are still way too tall. I am 5'11", so they work for me and I have better viability. Getting in and out of the truck is kinda weird and I have to have the steering wheel tilted up.
Bo185 05-20-2009, 01:51 PM Well fuck custom bases? Well if I do that might as well just tie them into the cage!
Thanks for the input everyone. I'll see what I can come up with.
