What kind of axle is this?

It has stock vacuum controlled lockers front and rear.

No ideas ? :)

Trick question. -I know exactly what kind of axle it is.

It's from a 50's Volvo 6x6 :)

It's much like a rockwell from the looks of it. I even thought that it was the same axle. But your doesnt have lockers (DUH).. From what i heard they looked on your stuff when they constructed it.

Every axle on all Swedish military vehicles are fully locked. (Except one, the volvo laplander who had dana44's and lammelldiff in the rear.)

I'd almost bet it used a rockwell center section, look at the assembly. It looks like a 2.5 ton housing with a 5 ton gear set.

But it's black though! Aren't rockwells black?

:flipoff2:

No, I didn't mean 5 ton dropped into a 2.5 ton axle, I meant mass produced with "off the shelf parts" using different combinations. After comparing the two, it's obvious it's not rockwell; "Looks" like a 5-ton center chunk though.

At any rate, I'd like to know what years rockwell diffs were produced new? both 2.5ers and 5 toners....

Huhu, coulden't find the English word for it, it's some kind of limited slip based on discs bundled and torqued together..
Volvo laplander guys uses to put to rear into the front when it starts to slip and get a fresh one in the rear.

Sounds like a regular Posi-type limited slip.

Have been looking into buying a set of these swe rockwell lookalikes. -Checked with a finnish company that currently are fragmenting some leftover trucks and they wanted 250$ for a front and 200$ for a rear. Think i'm going for two fronts.

It's not settled just yet, but there might be pictures at the very least sometime in the future :)

Rockwells are not the most common things around my area :)
