Im working on an 83 k5 and it has a 4wd pump from AGR which is already connected to hydro assist. The previous fabricator used the 4wd pump but didn't do crossover steering and didn't mount the hydro lines and pump correctly.
I'd like to set it up with crossover steering but is it possible to use the current 4wd pump since its already tapped for the lines?
Im thinking i can probably cut the arm off the existing pitman arm and only keeping the clamp end. I can fabricate a new arm utilizing the clamp end so it can work like a 2wd dropped pitman arm. I know the arms are cast so ill have to wrap it and slow cool after welding. If seen Pitman arm revisionson 2wd setups but not for 4wd setups.

I think we need a little clarification. Whats already tapped for the lines.... the PUMP(attached to the motor)or the steering GEAR(atached to the frame)??
For the love of god please dont make your own pitman arm.

My bad, The steering gear. I'll take a pic.
Notice how the Hydro lines are placed right between the bump stop and bump pad. Nice...

do you think your super stiff doubled up springs will actualy allow you to touch that bump stop???
gut the box and replace the sector shaft with the 2wd sector and do you cross over, there is nothing wrong with that setup.

Yes those springs are super stiff I think they're superlift. Im pushing to do a 52 swap which im sure will happen once my friend sees how little travel he gets with the current ones. Thanks trkklr, that would be the easiest way to utilize the existing components.

Holy crap, those springs look stiff as shit. Truck rides like it has no springs huh? lol
Get rid of the push pull and go crossover. Just a word of caution:
If you go 52s, stock ones, they will not lift the truck as high as your current springs will.

Yes those springs are terrible. Im going to drop a few springs out of the rear so it should level it out and soften it up in the rear at least. I might have to go with a 56 swap because where the cage is mounted to the frame, i want be able to relocate the shackle. If i go with a 56 swap I'll be able to keep the rear shackle where it is.
Can i buy a new sector shaft or should i just pick up a steering gear from the JY and swap the parts?
