OK, it's between:

36x12.5 Bias TSL.. these are 8 ply..
36x12.5 TSL/SX - 6ply

Or the 38x12.5 size of the same (both 6ply)(oohhh, the poor newfields!)

Does the 8ply of the bias TSL only affect the tread area and not the sidewall?

How does sidewall strength of the TSL and SX compare to the sidewall of a Bogger?

Terrain is going to be Tellico-type.. rocks, frequently coated with mud. Will be trailered mostly.

Thanx...

And no, I'm not going with 38.5's...yet. I am too much of a wuss to try it on cruiser axles.

TSL and Bogger sidewalls are comparable. SX sidewalls are the toughest yet the tire is heavier and it needs less air to flex than does the TSL.

I would go with the SX.

I had 38 x 12.50 SX's and they were damn small and narrow. I switched to the 38.5's from there.

YOu will LOVE them compared to the Boggers.

SX, no question.

Boggers are fine in mud and fine in rock. Combining the two with a Bogger is a bad idea...may as well just watch them slide off.

I have abused my 38.5 SX's relentlessly....4psi summers, 3psi winters, highway speeds at 8psi, thrashed them on rocks, trees, mud, you name it. VERY pleased - and I agonized for 2 years over the decision on what tire to buy.

Now I agonize over what beadlock to buy....and what doubler to put in...and what suspension tweak to put in the rear....and what cage design to go with....and and and and....

Narrow? Yup... I'm trying to minimize stress of the steering and birfs...

small? they're still a full 2" bigger around than my current Boggers...

As for what Woody said.. I hear ya!!! off-camber climbs are downright silly.. i slide right into the side of the hill...

It's just amazing that the SX is THAT much better than a bias TSL

I never said it was, in fact I have owned 36, 38 and 38.5 SX's and 33 and 42" TSL's and I have never punctured a sidewall in any of them.

I have seen them all go down on other peoples rigs though.

If you are willing to poney up the extra $$, I would do the SX's just for the extra sidewall protection.
