Anyone seen a solid axle swap on a newer silverado? I have a 2007 Silverado 1500. I have the 3 year 36k warranty and when its up (7000 miles) I am probably gonna do a conversion on it. Anyone seen this done before any direction?

I would try searching around here. I know there are some sas threads around. Not sure about that new but it should be the same.

here ya go...only thing is its a 2500hd. dont know that there is a kit for your application. I ordered my front brackets from ORU and the rest i did myself.

I have more but that gives you an idea. If the rear tires seem froward to you, its just the angle....i checked and double checked it and it has a zero rate to offset the rear shackle flip. Its just the pic.

I don't know of any companies that offer a SAS for 1/2 ton NBS Chevrolets... With time, they will appear and trickle down from the 3/4 ton side. I think what's holding things up is the fact that the 1/2 tons now have struts, so the front end frame is no longer the same as the 3/4 ton+ trucks.

sell the truck and buy a 2500hd

I looked into doing this for a buddy of mine. Talked to a couple of companies and they told me the frames were to thin to support the weight of a D60 on the 1500's. They all told me the same thing... way too much welding/plating involved to make a reliable/safe kit. Good luck!!!

uhh, the axle supports the frame not the other way around chief.

You will also have to change steering setups. Stock the use rack and pinion.

I'm guessing it is a new body style, not a classic.

Yep you are correct. Then the first time you max out the suspension, twist it up, or lets say send the truck sky high you land on nothing but your bumper and oil pan, how much of the frame will your axle be supporting then? This is in ref to kits. Not to say it cant be done.:flipoff2:

Nope, sounds like you’re a pussy. I can tell you that I have had my k5 off the ground on pavement, sand, and mud. Yep, it cost money almost every time I do it, and yes I can tell you the next day I feel like a moron for doing so, but you build it to abuse it.

Offroad Direct lists a kit for the HD and the 1500 up to 2006. They have one kit that says 2001-2007, but I think it's a typo.
