Who has done it in CA? Did you do it as a specialty constructed vehicle? Just take the reg from your old vehicle???

A friend of mine did this (URJB,wacko on PBB) and he ended up with a new vin# and a few probs.

Keep the declared value under $4K to avoid bonding issues

if you have the old vin it may work best for you, otherwise take a picture with you to DMV and tell em what you want to do, ....but dont offer any info that isn't asked for, seems like the less they know about what we've done, the better off we are.

The specially constructed vehicle angle can give some smog breaks if you jump through all the hoops. Cant find the link right now, but essentially you can apply for a waiver that will allow you to smog it to the year of the motor, not the year it was built. If you are interested I'll dig up the info.

Lance do you know if i have to have any part of the frame of the donor vehicle to green sticker it?

I could just transfer the VIN to the buggy...I dont have a problem with that or using a green sticker!
