Anyone know how deep you can cut into the carcase of a 39.5 bogger before you hit the cords?

i cut my carcasses down about 3/16 to 1/4 in the middle of the tire when they started smooth like a slick.

How much will that affect the weight capacity?

I'd like to get a little more tread depth out of my cut 54s.

I don't blame you. I was pretty surprised to see the actual depth when they came out.

This thread says you can shave 50lbs from a 39.5 bogger. (from 110 to 60) Wonder how much you could lighten a 54? I thought that info was in these threads too?

The 54s have just as much tread depth as a 44 bogger.

There is only one bogger size that has more tred depth( like 1 or 2 32nds). I think it's the 39.5.

By weight capacity I mean, how much it can hold.

Thats exactly my point, and exactly why when I purchase a tire in that size range it will not be a bogger.

I get what Pro's saying too Tawlboy. Ever see a 35" tsl? The side lugs are about as big as the lense on a pair of eyeglasses. Ever see a 44" tsl? Them side lugs are as big as my fist almost. Point: The 54 bogger should have an enlarged tread pattern of a 44 bogger. DAMN D.O.T.!

Being as I am pretty much a hard core ag tire guy, its easy for me to be critical about any DOT tire, but damn, those 54 boggers are just pathetic in lug size considering their overall carcass size- cant wait so check out those new pre-producution 54 inch claws in a couple of days at TTC.

Well, that was exactly why I was unhappy when I saw them, and what clinched it for me that when I step into that size range it would just be ags.

I wouldn't hold my breath on the claws. I've always thought they brought the epic suck and were over rated unless you are strictly a sand guy.

plus the cost is mega over the top. i got 4 of these on wheels for two hundred more than 1, 54" bogger(just the tire). brand new they are $235 each.
