: F-150 Control Arm Question.

Picked up a control arm at the wrecking yard yesterday to make a wristed arm for my truck.

The front part has the "ear" for dual shocks, but has not been drilled or have the shock mounts.

If for no other reason than keeping the appearance the same, can I use the part off my old arm, or were they machined as a matched pair?

I know the arm will be different after welding it up for the wrist, or I can just cut off the offending piece, more of a curiousity question than anything else.

Thanks,

Mike

BTW The truck that this arm came out of had a NP 203 in it if any one is looking for one to build a doubler, etc.....

They are the same unless your other arm is an EB arm. On the EB arm the mounting holes for the coil plate are a spaced little different then on the F150. All the same other than that :)

Mark,

Thanks for the info. I had a guy at work, when I was explaining the "wristing" I was doing, tell me I had to keep the pair matched up.

There is a '79 Bronco in the same yard with a 460 in it, that I may get the exhaust manifolds off of this weekend. It also has the quad shocks, so I may just take the caps off the front to use on my truck. Need to look at the upper mounts also.

These projects never end!!

The radius arms and the caps are machined together, but generally they should interchange just fine. And as mentioned the early bronco and f-150 are slightly different.
