Wow, I hope that if anyone does bid on that thing that I hope that they take the time to go thru all of the pictures.

It looks like a BIG project that will require a BIG shop to work in funded with a BIG wallet.

Anyways, bid away...

WOW...
I bet you could squash like 10 ricers at once with a rig like that! :D

Big truck, even bigger project... would sure make a sweet ride though.

Somethings fishy. I didn't look at every picture but of the 10 or so I did look at they were of small details. Why someone wouldn't have a full picture is beyond me. Based on how the dash was corroded and dirty I wonder if it got submurged in a big mud hole or something. And the statement about you can't even look at it before you come up with the $1000 deposit smells. It could be in a storage area that he is way behind the rent on and he can't get to it anymore. Al that said, I might give him his starting bid for it if I lived within a few hundred miles of him (if I could see it)., not for the vehicle as a vehicle but for something to mess with or canabalize for whatever. And no rims (and no tires?), damn, that could be expensive.

Lotsa pics of detail stuff, some of which is interesting, most of which tells nothing about the truck.

Interesting truck on the whole, but why does some gut feeling keep telling me that he doesn't want me to see the entire thing at one shot?

The wheels look like it'd be easy enough to build some custom 20's to fit, probably wouldn't even be all that spendy ($200ish each?) and tires for 20's aren't that spendy (go Daniel! :) ) either, but having to buy 8 (9?) of them, adds up fast.

My bet is that if it doesn't sell, it's reposted on Ebay in about two months, after the guy who owns the storage facility repo's his warehouse space and the guy who owns the truck doesn't pay the grand worth of back storage he owes (which is prolly why he can't get in without that deposit), and that it sells for a lot less.

Would make a hell of a tow rig/recovery rig/wrecker/??? but it sure could be interesting trying to register and insure it to drive it on the street. I had trouble enough insuring my dumptruck back when I had it--most insurance companies flipped when I told them it was a personal-recreational-use five-ton truck. One said I was crazy.

"I need to insure a truck"
"What kind of truck, sir?"
"A palletized loader"
"What's that?"
"It's a big military truck that picks up car-sized boxes and carries them away"
"Sir, I don't think that's street legal"

I wonder if you could convert it to an RV with a short flatbed for hauling one vehicle... cab in the front, apartment in the middle, driveway on the back... that'd be frick'n cool... when you get wherever you want to go, or if the big truck just flat-out won't fit down the trail any farther (it's gotta be 40 feet long and 8 wide) you offload the 4x4 and keep going. Or if you have neighbor problems, like they gripe that your 4x4 is ugly... just park that out front. Nobody can tow it away, the tires are too big to boot it, and if the neighbors really piss ya off, just pick up their car and put it in their backyard. :)

One of the guys on the Unimog mailing lists has a rig like this that is registered in California. He has some pictures on his website with other cars parked next to it to give you an idea of its size. ITS FRIGGIN HUGE...

Vehicle is currently stored indoors in Tooele, Utah. It cannot be retrieved, inspected or otherwise viewed until the $1,000 nonrefundable deposit is paid.

WTF are you kidding me... Has anyone e-mailed this guy? I would like to hear him explain it.

Its a running, non running, street legal, non street legal, load carrying minus the bed to do it, CTIS hogging wheeless, off road trailer towed, rig. You will only have to send the space shuttle Endeavor to get it home. :flipoff2:

If the dudes info is correct, of course its going to be a POS. One of perhaps 10 built to compete for the military contract (should read...The military bet the crap out of it and found it to be insuffiecient). All the low miles on it were probably pretty extreme, I doubt the military is kind to experimental vehicles in their precontract testing. I also doubt that they spend the time or money to repair the test mules that break in the competition. Look at it this way, You get to buy the parts that survived the military testing. Ever see the old movies from when the army was testing the first jeeps for the contract? Picture this beast going through the same thing.

that stuff is cool, but its all too big,,, i always thought an isuzu cabover truck would make a good tow rig, but then if you wanted to go play with it, or take some crazy expedition somewhere you would want multi wheel drive so i would just have to by the stewart stevens rig.
