I have ran into a problem with the build on my truck. The truck was a 1990 GMC 2wd w/v6. Long story short I put a chevy D60 under it and swapped in a tbi 350 w/ a th350 and 205 . The factory transs. shifter linkage was the metal rod connected to the steering column to the tranny. Since I reused the exhaust piped from my last build there is no way I can use this setup. Ive seen in a few magazines where there is a aftermarket cable that hooks up to the steering column and goes down to the transs. Anyone know anything about these?

the only one i can think of is lokar and it has snazzy brackets and shit. you could easily make your own from a aftermarket/b&m/hurst cable, but in reality they suck around heat and will melt the exterior sleave and completely fubar the thing.

honestly you may be better off with a aftermarket or home made floor shifter.

with the money your gonna spend on a new cable, bracketry, shifter, and such wouldnt it be easier to spend the money on gettin your exhaust routed differently?

Well yes and no. I could re-route the exhaust but there is some clearance issues with doing that. The bracket system I have for the front spring shackel (shackel reversed) doesnt allow me much room to move things around. I had a B&M floor shifter on the previous setup ( tube buggy). I might try and use just the B&M cable and make a bracket to hook it up to the column shifter bracket. Hopefully that might work.

Sheet metal heat shield wont be nothing to fab. The cable will be about 5 inches away from the exhaust tube.
