i've been looking for a deal on a decent sized upright, and found this yesterday. took delivery today.
it needs a pressure gauge, but i figure not bad for $200.
now i just need to learn about plumbing shop air and i'll be in business.

Sorry, but that's not worth 200.
Should have watched CL more for $200 you can pick up a real 60g or 80 upright.... oil-free = bring the suck.

its a pretty decent upgrade from what i already had.
the guy i bought it from said the pressure gauge was missing because he broke it walking into it.
i replaced the gauge and put 5 lbs into it and could found a serious leak at the tube coming off the tank. when i tried to remove it, it broke off flush with the tank so i had to cut it out. luckily i didn't ruin the threads.
ran it up to 140psi (not watching it) but it never kicked itself off... i don't know how to adjust for that but its only rated at 130psi.
hooked up a die grinder and went full-tilt until it kicked on at about 100psi then very slowly worked its way down to 60psi where it settled. my old little compressor could only keep the same grinder at about 25psi.
either way, it expected it to stay at least at 90psi as its rated above my grinder.
oh well. like i say, its still more that twice my old compressor which cost me more that $200 new.
if i run across a good oil type compressor pump couldn't i just graft it to the top of this tank down the road? i assume since the electric motor pulls 14amps it could probably spin a decent size pump.

was thinking the same thing.
read the reviews on basicly every craftsman compressor and they all suck unless you spend over $1K and if you paid 1K for a 80gal compressor i bet you would think its kick ass too.
lots of compressor and motor problems on the craftsman ones. scared me away to the point that i dont even look at them any more. going for an IR soon.

not entirely true, the belt driven, oiled version of the craftsman pro has decent review and its only in the 400 range. I've only had it a couple of months so I'll reserve judgement.
You can always use the tank as spare capacity.

Any idea what the ID of the tube is they use?
I was going to plumb my garage with 3/4" copper but that stuff is cool, I have some on my rig, and wouldn't mind doing the garage in it as long as it can flow the volume I need :)
