I have an 83 cj 7 has a waggy dana 44 front and a rodeo dana 44 rear with disc. I have a 82 corvette MC yj booster and the rest is stock. I have bench bled the MC the front brakes will lock but cant get the rear to bleed, going to try a power bleeder next but any other ideas are greatly apprieciated.

I searched and there are many with this problem but none really stated what the final fix was.

you may want to remove the bleeder totaly to inspect for a clog, caked with dirt or rust. can you get fuild out of them? is there a leak letting air in? are any fittings cracked? all of these are common problems with brakes. are you totally off the ground when your checking the brakes? is there a porportioning valve in there? or all hard line?

and power bleeders rock

Did you remove or bypass the proportioning valve? If not, then you have less pressure going to the rear than the front. That proportioning valve is not setup for disc brakes in the rear.

I have seen articles where they just take the proportionaing valve and drill it out to remove the pressure restriction.

I have a CJ7 which had 35's and it would not stop worth a crap with discs all around. I put a Ford 8.8 in mine.

So after the whole replacement of the vacume booster and such, no change, I finally looked into a hydro boot kit, 800 bones wasn;t happening for the kit so I did a little research and found a astro van hydrobooster being sold on ebay, with the adjustable piston linkage rod. Spent about 130 on it, 150 on hoses and now all 4 tires will lock up if I need them too and I am currently running 37's with no braking problems at all. Now, I have drove a few other jeeps with the hydrokits on them, they use a 1-ton Chevy booster. And that makes the brakes just a little too touchy for me. It was almost like being launched through the front windshield if you had to hit them as a reaction to a perceived emergency or to avoid possible problems on the road. The astro van booster was just right.

Hope this helps.

Something is not right. Dude before me had 4 wheel disc's from a mid 70's K-Truck (what Jeep used mid 70's for front disc on J-trucks) and a vette MC. He could lock up 39's. You know there are two vette MC's. One for 4 disc and one for disc/drum. Make sure you get the right one. And no residual pressure on disc's. There is also an adjustable proportional valve that might help.

I'd keep searching.

Then again, the astrovan MC is another popular swap.
