I have a buddy thats putting a 350 in his yj, my question is can i use his tranny and transfer case in my cherokee. I have an 84 on he has a 91, so he has the ax4/5 5speed, and the 231 transfer
I have the BOA-whatever tranny and a 207, can these be swapped. He also has the 2.5 4cyl and I have a 2.8 V6 please hold the laughs. He's willin to let me have his stuff for $100 can this be done

i about 90% sure the tranny and t case will not match up. anyhow the ax-5 would not be that much of an upgrade. are you stuck on going to a manual tranny? if not the chry904 is the auto that came in the early xj's w/ the 2.8. and if ya swapped one of those in you could run a d300, and as soon as the 2.8 goes you could swap in a number of different motors such as the 3.4 or a 304 for that matter.

I think the Dana 300 drops on the wrong side for a Cherokee.Cherokee is on the drivers side and CJ's(Dana 300) where on the passenger side.

NO it wont work!!! Why do you want an AX5 anyways?? Not the best transmissions!
