I just put a rebuilt 3.4 with a TRD Supercharger in my buggy. The bad boy is blowing tons of black smoke and
won't idle smooth also will backfire on sometimes. Put in new O2 sensors, have rebuilt injectors in from L/C, new TPS, and airflow meter. Compression is good, valve clearance are right on. I also put in the new plugs that were recommended for the Supercharger.
Any ideas would be great.

have you checked timing? I took 3.4 taco to a shop to replace the timing belt & they got one cam of just one toth off and I had the same problem. also make sure fire order is rite on

i had a jeep start to run like a rocket ship and blow black smoke once. it had a vac leak at the MAP sensor.dont know if that even applies to you, but sounds like it might if you have one. mine was cracked far into the tube where it was fucked up inside the sensor. if it was me id be checking vac lines like crazy on a problem like that. good luck. as soon as i fixed the leak the problem never resurfaced but i was working on that area with the car running so i could hear what the motor was doing and when i pushed on the line the car started idling normal.

Could a wire be wrong also on my harness???
I am going to check the timing belt also.
I put one or those URD simulators on so I wouldn't
need a CAT I'm curious about that also.
I'm pretty well lost!!!

I don't think it would be the cats I pulled mine off and the only thing it does is when you go and pull the codes that the cats is not working. It seems to run fine. On the wires I dont think it is possible to switch the wires around.
i would think that if its running that bad it would have some stored codes, or at least a pending code..
you didnt mix up the simulator or o2 sensors did you

First post you say you put in new o2 sensors, then in #4 you say you put in a simulator. Which is it?
If you put the simulator on the front o2 sensor plug instead of the rear (or if you swapped plugs), that could definitely cause your problem.
The ECU uses the front o2 to set up the fuel mixture. The rear one only monitors the performance of the cat, and can be eliminated/simulated.
You should still run a cat though. No reason not to.

At first I only had the before cat O2 sensor, and hooked up the simulator as the rear. Then I called URD and they said you still need the rear O2 sensor.
So I put that in also and put the simulator back on.

Got it running. It was one dang wire, the power wire that powers up the TPS and air flow meter. Thanks for the input.
