i dont see why you couln't use it, other than it would turn full time!
I don't think anyone make a conversion to manuals yet....Dodge uses a ball joint type knuckle with 3 or 4 bolt hub/bearing.
Why not just use a GM 60???

I use a full time 3/4 ton dodge front end and a 14 bolt rear.

I swap my front slip yoke in/out when wheeling. I run my front drive line so the slip yoke is on the diff. Four bolts later and I'm good to go. Oh, and I zip tie the main shaft up to the frame rail.

I do it while airing up/down so as not to take up anybody elses time.

nobody has one for sale. Got cash on hand and i need a 60 but seems like they all vanished. I didn't know they were ball joint, i prefer kingpin but i'll take what i can get. What about lug pattern. I have 8 lug beadlocks that fit a chevy d60/14 bolt. Will this dodge axle have the same pattern?

All 8 lug patterns are 8-6.5 except the new F-SD's they are
8-170mm----leave it to Ford to throw a monkey wrench in something that worked so well for so many years!!
Check out the F-150 patterns----5-135mm, 7-150mm and now they throw some kind of metric 6 lug pattern at us.
They really know how to f*ck with wheel mfg's!!

I have a 75 Dodge full time D60 mounted under my TJ. I tried converting to lockouts (there external mount) and Selectro was the only company I could find that made them. They lasted for roughly 15 minutes before the end twisted off one of them and the other cracked all the way around at the 8 bolts holding them on. Now I just run it full time with the drive flanges in place and I kinda like it that way. I get no vibration up to about 80mph and its so easy to not have to get out to lock in, just yank the stick for the front end into gear and go.
Dave (Probably change to 35 spline outers If I break the stock 30's)

Oh, I forgot to say also that it's got king pin's. Not sure when but only the late models have the ball joints.

I will be using a late 70's Dodge that came with full time drive flanges. I am gonna keep the drive flanges and run an ARB up front - since it will be a trail only vehicle anyway.

i run a 70's dodge dana60 with 35 slipne outers, and homemade drive flanges and a detroit. i love it no more broken hubs or stub shafts. and it drives the same on the street up to 70 mph

I'm pretty sure you should already have 35 spline outers on a 1975 D60. My 1975 D44 has 35 spline outers as thick as my 14 bolt axles.

I do not believe their design is the same as yours ;) In other words.. Im pretty sure its a 30 spline stub. Not that oddball 35 spline threaded stub you got :D

Not sure I've ever seen a D44 with 35 spline outers;) But if you have one it may be worth some cash to someone that breaks there outers but never there U-joints;) Actually now that I think about it the only full time external style hub axles I've seen with 35 spline outers were custom made using the existing drive flanges that were bored and broached.

Perhaps if anyone here was interested in a D60 they would look in the "For Sale" section. :flipoff2:

So just to double check here.

Selectro is the only place that makes lock-outs for the external (bolt-on) king-pin D60 fronts? Anyone have some used ones to unload? :D

I have a D60F housing to finish, and found knuckles-out at the junkyard, 8-lug, Chevy single-piston, but with drive flanges.

This is going in my tow-rig, so 1) I don't want drive flanges and 2) ultimate strength isn't such a big issue. It'll be running 235/85-16s and I suspect snowy/icy roads and the occasional muddy campsite to be the extent of it's wheelin' adventures.

I wouldn't mind getting some of those neck-down 60 'shafts, either. :D

If I can't find lock-outs for the external wheel hubs, maybe I'll just remove the flanges and keep 'em under the seat for when I need 4x4? :D

I thought you could get Superwinch ones aftermarket, but I dunno...

I have a pair of drive flanges I will be running, and one Selectro that will be my "spare".

Actually I have heard that superwinch or someone else may make them but no one has shown me the actual part. For your application I think it would be just fine using the selectros. You can get them at Autozone for like $100. I have a buddy that has run them on his daily driver for about 10 years without problems. Just dont try to wheel it and you would be fine.

Did I forget to mention my 166" WB? I have to make 3 point turns into angled parking spaces... though I guess it would make weaving through the trees a bit more interesting than in my Scout. :D

Thanks. Now to go get those wheel hubs from the junkyard..
