350 Samurai 09-06-2002, 09:17 PM Went up and ate dinner with everyone. Toyteks wife cooks a mean steak and potatoes.:p
Be back in the morning to take some more pics.
IronBenderII 09-06-2002, 10:40 PM Looks like they're gettnig extra gear reduction out of those chains. Kind of a good idea if it can hold up.

if this does work out for him he still needs to shield the chains better. a rock could still get in there and cause some damage. while this rig is not for me i would definately like to watch it and see how well it performed.
frankie fountain 09-07-2002, 04:13 AM is this rig from georgia?if so i know of it

road1will 09-07-2002, 05:58 AM that first rig looks sweet, but it looks like it would do a hell of a lot better in the mud than on the rocks, simply because of the way the tires are cut. it doesnt look like they have very much lateral stability.
Pavemen 09-07-2002, 07:55 AM So how long do you think the rear wheels of that first rig will stay on that thing? Looks like the only thing holding the "spindle" is that plate, nothing else supporting it. I would think it would be better if the shaft passed through the sprocket and was supported on the backside also.
flimmy 09-07-2002, 12:37 PM Does it have a swing arm type rear susp ? if not how does that shock do any good. Even with a swing arm it looks like it's laying down too much. And I can see a rock hitting the sprocket ( arrow ), it needs more protection.
flimmy 09-07-2002, 12:45 PM And I hope it does great in the comp also.

I'm thinking that those big ass ratchet straps are probably making the suspension squat as they pull the vehicle down and secure it to the trailer?

mudpup 09-08-2002, 08:08 AM I just got back, didn't stay for Sunday's comp. The IFS rig broke on the frist obstacle, or atleast thats what I was told.
Also as we were partying in the hotel parking lot Shannon Campbell showed up with his new rig to compete today, so it should be interesting to see how his ifs holds up.

Shocker! :D
Did Shaffer show up as well?
mudpup 09-08-2002, 08:20 AM Not sure, I didn't go out to the course today. Shannon showed up at the Best Western around midnight, was Shaffer riding with him or bringing his rig? I was pretty drunk by that point so if he rode with shannon then he might of been there, but I didn't his rig anywhere.
mudpup 09-08-2002, 08:25 AM Also Shupe's rig wouldn't start once he pulled up to the first obstacle so he ended up pointing out on that the first one (40 pts) and I think he finished the day with 35 pts.
Durham finished with 15 or so and was in second
and first place was a guy named Scott from Rocket City Off-Road, who drove the last 4 obstacles of the day with a flat front tire, think he ended up with like 13 pts. He also put on a hell of a show on Full Throttle obstacle, he hit the second climb and did one complete endo backwards, landed on his wheels and hit it again, he finished that obstacle with 1pt.
Shupe was also the only one on the first day to make the bonus climb on full throttle.
snobrder 09-09-2002, 08:32 AM Shaffer was with him.

Shannons rig broke a front axle on his IFS too. And damn, does that thing carry a front wheel in the air, I thought a Samurai was bad for that.
I think the buggy thing and Shannons rig are running the same front end. The buggy had a '91 Chevy truck front, is that the same as Campbells Lance?
Also, the rear end on the buggy was out of a 300ZX.
Hey Lance, how come you didn't come with Shaffer and check out the festivities?

Pdaddy 09-09-2002, 09:05 AM as interesting as some of that vehicle is, I can only say
POOP :flipoff2:
The Jerk 09-09-2002, 09:05 AM umm, all that engeneering and time and he holds the propane bottle in by 3 ratchet straps? couldnt spring for teh regual bottle hold downs, lol, jiMMy
ChevotaSS 09-09-2002, 02:23 PM I watched cambell and shaffer on the the 1st obstacle.. table top and battlship.. both did a pretty good job.. cambells rig's front does carry a tire pretty high.. but i thought the rig worked great. I saw them run 2 obstacles and did them very well. got some good video of both of them on table top and battleship. I also got a GREAT shot of scotts violent roll over on fullthrottle.. but he jsut kept at it and tried it again and made it. i was in awww.
I dont get why that chain driven SAND BLASTER was let into the comp in the first place? I thought you had to drive in one of the three previous comps?
Also, people were all talking about how bad that thing was, I was against it from the start. He broke a CV, I think his tierod (saw some damage to it, wasent sure if it was broken) tore his oil pan open and snaped his winch cable all on the first obstacle!
I dont see what suprised everyone too! That thing had about 8 inches of ground clearance!
Oh well, its his dollar!

Post it when you get it. Rocky rolled the exact same way right before Scott did. We were watching the rolls that the flash video guy had on tape of them and both of them were pretty violent.

The event was a regular event that was double weighted for the series champion. Anybody that wanted to enter could.
Speakin' of Rocky, how are you doing? You seemed a little sore after your roll.

Negative. The fourth event was just that, a fourth event. The only difference was that final scores were double weighted as far as series points were concerned... so it was more beneficial for everyone to make this last event than the first 3. It was designed this way from the get go so that A) The last event would be a biggie, and B)It didn't cause those that couldn't make one of the first 3 events suffer from whatever was holding them back.
I think it turned out real well.
ChevotaSS 09-10-2002, 02:17 PM yeah ive got the other roll over on tape also. the wranglers rollover was alot smoother.. he did a half tuck to a pike twist. landed with no splash. but scotts was just like a cannonball.. haha..
lt1wrangler 09-10-2002, 03:24 PM At least I didn't roll this time! Shaffer did a nice job on Robert's Revenge, except for that lazy spotter he had struggling for air. Ha! Ha!
