Ok so I have a 96 4 door XJ and the door has been stuck since I got it. I've tried spraying PB blaster on the lock. Tried kicking it open while someone held the door button in on the outside. Tried taking the door panel off and pulling on the lever inside the door. WTF????:mad3::mad3::mad3: it seams like it isn't unlocking all the way, even with the key from the outside. I am about to just cut the damn thing off and call it a day.
It's off-road trailer use only.... Anyone have any ideas???

Are they power locks or manual?

If it has manual locks I had the same problem with my 94 XJ I was ready to cut the door off too. I mess with it for days and pissed me off. I took off the door panel and there was a black kinda L shaped piece of metal where one of the arm rest screws goes in to, I had to take this off to see what I was doing inside the door, I stuck a flash light on there and there is a lever thing on the door latch in the pic I have. You need to push this up towards the top of your jeep. If there not manual I read online somewhere that there is a lever or button you can push with a screwdriver I guess inside the door I am not sure exactly where it is. Anyways I hope this helps.

It has manual locks...
I've taken the black metal piece off I'll try pushing that little bar up with a screwdriver and see what I get.
Thanks, would much rather take the door off and sell it than cut it off!

I went to the junk yard and got a new latch mine was bad I guess it was like $15 dollars vs $60 online or $120 from the dealer those where the only places I could find one. If you get it open its easy to replace its just the three torques screws on the outside of the door and then pop off the little plastic things that hook to the rods they only come off and go back on one way. Hope this helps I was ready to scream with mine I could not find anything to help me online.

Had the same problem on my 94 pas rear door. Had to remove the panel and use a flathead as a pry to force the latch relies wasn’t fun thought I was going to bust it off. Try removing the bars and while someone pulls pry down on the relies
