Iv got a scout II box in my ranger and PS pump is putting out too much pressure, rather than try to fawk with the pump and get it putting out less pressure or whatever I want to just get a scout pump.. but just in case I cant find one, what else will work? How hard will it be to get the pump running off my serpentine belt?

Too much pressure? The Scout guys routinely crank up their PS pump pressure to 12-1500 psi, to get the Scout box to turn harder. Stock Ford pumps rarely exceed 1k psi.

Sounds like there's something else wrong there. You probably need to rebuild your Scout box.

You should be able to get a latemodel GM pump to work, you'll have to make brackets, but I seriously doubt that it'll put out less pressure than the (notoriously weak) stock Ford pump would.

Its from a rack'n pinion though... I kept busting the caps on the box. I posted my problem here and the general consencus was the pump was putting out too much pressure... I went thru 3 caps just sitting in the driveway. I know the first one was cause my steering stops werent adjusted and the second one MAY have had a small crack or something but we checked the third one thuroughly and it was in good condition, steering bumps adjusted, still cracked after a couple minutes of turning (/w no weight on the vehicle).

'k... if you want a weak Ford pump (I didn't realize this was a rack pump, and I dunno jack about racks) but that's serpentine and will prolly fit your brackets, look at late 80's land barges. My '87 Crown Vic has/had (no longer a Crown Vic) a serpentine steering box style pump, works OK, but pressure kinda sucks. Mustang would be another option. The '87 CV pump is about $60 with core and warranty at my local Autozoen, yours should be similar... but if you want brackets to match up, I'd take in your old pump and bracket to make sure.

Forget the Scout pump if you wanna keep the serpentine belt and get it running today--those didn't have flat belts, and a custom pulley isn't cheap or quick.
