: what 60's are in a 78?

i need specs on a 78 rear d60 full width out of a F-250, my friend just picked one up and needs to know what he got. thanks

I've seen a few mid-late 70's ford 60's with 16 spline axles so pull it apart to be sure.

Get the Bill of Material number off the tube. Search until you find it. Get this and someone will post the exact axle you have.

SCOTTS_4X, The last year 16 spline was 75, and only in some vehicles.

ok, well this is the only number he said he could see on the actual tube, there was a couple of numbers on the webbing as well but here is the one on the tube...

259-75

BOM # needs to be like this: 603883-1
The -1 is the gear and possible trac-loc designater.
The 603883 will tell you the year and origanal application.

The number you gave is incomplete or not part of the BOM at all.

Eric I give, what a 603883? I'm guessing 1976.5 Dana 44, but not out of a Ford.

I find this kind of FUNNY.:laughing: Why dont you tell us what it is. Your friend has the fawkin axle not us. We could come up with a million diffrent specs and still be wrong. You wont know until you tear into it. Dont be afraid to get your hands dirty now, :flipoff2:
