mike4089 05-29-2009, 07:28 AM Driving down the road yesterday my front drivers side caliper locked up and the brakes started smoking BAD...i was able to pull over let it cool and make it back home...jacked the truck up to look at how i need to go about replacing the caliper and pads and what not, and it seems that i have two diffrent size torx bolts in there....
2 of them are reverse torx, and 2 of them are regular torx...I need to know the size though so i can go buy the right tools...

Elwenil 05-30-2009, 08:00 AM Ok, I've looked at this for a few days and I still can't figure out what the hell a "reverse Torx" is. Do you think he means a 12 point bolt? Lol...

AlrightGuy 05-30-2009, 01:42 PM Soooo, whats a reverse torx?:homer:
ffdustyw 05-30-2009, 01:50 PM I think I know what your talking about. 14mm 12 point wrench..
mike4089 05-30-2009, 06:20 PM well two of the bolts were a T45 torx bit, and the other two at first glance looked at a torx bolt, only backwards....Star part was sticking out instead of in....hence the reverse torx....but after looking at it again i realized it was a 12 point 16mm

Haven't seen them anywhere on brakes before. But, reverse torx DOES exist.
What does it look like? Perhaps the male version of a torx bolt. :p

AlrightGuy 06-01-2009, 04:26 PM I have seen those before. I hate odd bolts.
crashnzuk 06-01-2009, 05:33 PM MY YJ had 2 of those bastards as the top 2 bolts on the bell housing:shaking: No idea why, they weren't even metric. They are long gone now.
Travis..
the sockets for those are called E-torx I believe. I know the sizes go like E-10, E11, and so on..also obviously smaller too. I have a small set of those bastards, such a stupid ass idea if you ask me...
Jon Martin 06-06-2009, 06:00 AM There called external torx. I remember them on the YJ bellhousing, what a PITA!

wahlstrom1 06-06-2009, 05:18 PM They're also used on the door hinges of peterbilts...on the cab side, the door side is a Philips head'd machine screw. Not that it matters....
