: Will tierod from '78 coil D-44 fit leaf HD D-44 or D-60?

Anyone know if it's it possible to use the tierod from a '78/79 Bronco or F-150 on the Ford heavy duty Dana 44 or 60? In other words, are the tierods the same length? The diagrams in my 78 shop manual show the HD D-44 and D-60 with a funky steering setup that won't be compatable with my truck. Is this correct? Did any of the leaf sprung Fords of any year use a style steering linkage like the late '70s coil sprung Fords? I haven't found an appropriate axle yet to take my own measurements, so I'm still fabricating on paper.

Thanks,

Not sure on the tie rod's, but that F250 axle is wider than the F100/150. So my guess is no.

your problem is that the F-150 uses the inverted 'T' linkage and the F-250 and F-350 uses the older style with the pitman are going front to back with the drag link attaching to the top of the knuckle. Am I right?

Since the larger D-44 has a flat top knuckle and the D-60 has the large 4-bolt top to the knuckle then just go cross-over steering. this eliminates your 'uncompatability' problem between the stock F-150 linkage and the HD D-44 and the D-60.
