: coilover shocks
magoo117 09-07-2002, 05:27 PM First of all I learned my lesson and did a search.I didn't find what I wanted. What brand shocks are best?King,SwayAWay, or Fox?I read the one post that said it's best to go with 16" 2.0" so I have a better selection of springs. So I am going with that size.I just don't know what kind.
Stephen 09-07-2002, 06:25 PM Search some more, it came up again recently.
I personally prefer King's customer service, but they're not perfect, only pretty good.
brainless 09-07-2002, 07:56 PM for rockcrawling it really doesnt matter king ,fox ,sway a way or bilstien pick the one that fits your budget and the one that gives the best customer service over the phone they are all user rebuildable and all come in the lenght you want .
i run sawy a way on 2 rigs .
good luck

nuttzack 09-07-2002, 09:44 PM I would guess sway-a-way at about $250 a shock

Factory direct they quoted me $600 a corner for sway-a-way 2" x 16" dual rate.....even avelanche was cheaper at $464 for the same brand.
Avelanche
Shock(your size here)$249.00
Coil kit $ 101.50
Coil 8/150 $ 34.50
Coil 16/400 $ 79.00
----------
TOTAL
$464.00 Plus Shipping
dirtrod 09-08-2002, 09:10 AM Give Doetsch a call, they were about $325 a corner a couple of years ago for the 15" w/o remotes, the shocks are nice, the service is so-so (small company with growing pains).
after seeing a set of Sway A Way's and my Fox's side by side, the only noticable difference visually is the colors and stickers :D every thing about them looks basically identical... and as far as tech spec's they seem idetical also...
$425ea complete ready to bolt on the rig... remote res 14in with coils and all hardware :D
magoo117 09-08-2002, 11:33 AM What about Bilstein?Expensive?I saw someplace they have a RockCrawler specific shock. We used to use them on our racecar years ago and they were a nice quality shock back then so I imagine the quality is still there.
