I have a TJ with the BTF tube fenders without a fender flare. That is not so much of an issue at this point. The issue is I have considered removing the rear fender flares. In the front I have about 7-8 inches of tire hanging out beyond the tub. My existing rear fender flares are stock. Trying to decide if it is worth the gamble on a fix it ticket. My father in law thinks I should ditch the fender flares. Who else is running no fender flares with a comparable setup. I have a 4" with 33x12.50 Mickey Thompson Baja Claws.
Thanks.

mine are coming off. If i were to do any flare though id have none upfront and a 3" tube flare in the rear from genrite or somebody, i personally just hate the look of anything bigger and around here it's not much of an issue.

I had about the same sticking out, but thanks to a certian Sac Sheriff they are now covered :mad3:
$180 for the flares and $25 to the county.

Assuming you axles are th same width.
you would have the same coverage or lack there of, front and rear
The real question is where do you live and will you get a ticket if you ditcht em? I know you dont have the fronts but it may just make you a bigger target without rear flares.

That is exactly what my concern is. Just digging to see if anyone else in my area has gotten away with this. I live in Sonoma County, Santa Rosa, CA.
Well the truth of its is..theres always someone who has gotten away with it, and there are scores of those who havent. I would like to ditch mine and I pretty much can, I live in Texas and its easy to get away with that here but I wont because as with anything and I am a LEO I may get away with 100 times or get stopped 100 times. If it were me and I were in your shoes Id run the rear flares to try and offset any tickets.

This is such a subjective topic there is no real answer. I would base my decision on how strict your local laws are and how vigorously your LEO's enforce them.
Some personal experience however...
Around here it is illegal to have any tire out past the flare, with that being said, I know a guy with a decked out Willys, banana yellow with a SBC lifted on 33s the tires stick out pretty far. Its super clean, really cool and the cops harass him quite frequently despite the fact that hes a nice guy and drives civil.
Now we have our trail rig/rockcrawler YJs TJs and CJs all roached out with trail and rock damage. Flares are constantly ripped off them, most guys don't even put them back on. Basically compared to everything else on the road they are pretty roached out and have half a number of misc violations going on at any one time and I have yet to even hear about somebody getting a ticket just because they were on the road. Infact Ive had state troopers stop and shoot the shit with me at check points when driving mine.
Its a toss up basically.

I am also wondering the same thing I just moved from SLC Utah to Santa Rosa and I am wondering if I will have to get some bushwackers or something I have heard some cops care but most dont. I also here that Rohnert Park PD are more strict on the no fender flares. I start work with the 4 Wheel Parts here in Santa Rosa on the 15th so I will get some more info from them they should have a good idea weather or not they care. I know in Salt Lake City we would lift some ones vehicle and about a month or so later they would be back for a set of fender flares just cause of how strict they are.

I would check the laws carefully and in detail. I am in San Diego. Running flat fenders up front and flares in the rear becuase the law only requires the flares on the rear. The law does not mention the front at all.
But if you have a local leo thinking he is god up there or a local law in addition to the CA law then you could have a problem.
But the basic CA law only requires (at least everything I have read and researched) flares only in the rear.
