hey im looking to do a solid axle swap on my 99 f-150 4.6L

will be using a dana 44 front with a dana 60 rear. 3.53 gears

guy im buying the axles from has a 10" coil lift with trailing arms off of a bronco. he has everything but coils. i found a pair of 3/4 ton chevy 6" lift springs im thinking of buying them and using them with a 4" leaf shackle drop. (where leaf bolts to frame i would make a set of drops 4") think the trucks stock steering would turn the tires? would i have to be worried about snapping u joints and rear end parts? what do you all think. Oh tires will be michelin xl 48s

48's your gonna need hydro assist and at least built one tons. That front 44 won't handle that shit for long, and neither will that dana 60 rear. You need at least a 14 ff in the rear and a hp 60 in the front with chromo axles. 2 1/2 tons will be much better for tires that big and heavy. I'd also look into full hydro and keeping it low, unless your building a big gay mud truck.

dam no gay big mud truck would be a dd and small time off roader looks like my plan wont be happening after all =( maybe i should just do 40s or something, how would the axles handle that?

3.53 gears with 40" tires plus the 4.6 would bring the suck big time.

Thats a lot of tire for a dana 44, even if you dont get off road it will be hard on ball joints, steering and brake parts

I would reccomend either saving up for 1 tons or thinking about staying with a smaller tire size for now. If your 3/4 ton axles are 8 lug then you could upgrade to 1 tons later and keep the same wheels.

But seriously I would go straight for 2.5 ton rockwells for anything over 44s as you absolutely need to dump a clusterfu** of money into 1 tons to maybe hold the abuse those tires will give. Not to mention you'll need some really deep gears, like at least 6.xx or so. All the 2.5 rockwells are 6.72:1 so that would be perfect.

Yes you need hydro assist.
