hi, i picked up a 60 rear from a 78' f-250 today. the axle is in great condition exept for one thing. on the driver side, they couldnt get the lug nuts to come off so they decide to cut the studs off with a torch instead. so my questions is how to replace the studs, are they just pressed in? do i jsut need to go to the parts store and get 8 more and have them pressed out and back in, or is there some sort of trick to it that i am missing, thanks for all the help, scott

Yep, press out and press in or use a BIG hammer :D

They pop out easy with a 4# sledge :)

Pound them out with a hand maul and a steel punch.
When you pick up your new studs & lug nuts get regular nut and a couple of washers too.
Grease up the washers then tighten everything down with the regular nut.

so instead of hitting the new stud in, you say to use the nut to pull it tight? it seems like a good idea to me, thanks for the info, scott

Yea, just make sure that the head of the stud fully contacts the back of the axle flange otherwise you'll end up with lug nuts that'll never stay tight.
