: Intermediate shaft angle...

I did a search but didn't come up with much info.

I'm swapping a 4bt into an old dodge M-37 truck.

I bolted a Spicer 3053 transmission to the cummins, and it's all hanging in the frame now ready for mounts to be mocked up. As soon as I get everything in position.

Question is about the intermediate shaft angle.

The transfer case is a divorced NP200 and the shaft will be about a foot long.

Question is how much different angle and offset is allowable between the trans output shaft and the transfer case input shaft, it looks like the engine/trans needs to tilt down in the back a little to clear everything, and the T-case is mounted level.

How critical is this angle and will a difference in angle cause a lot of issues?

angle is important. if they don't match you get vibrations.

the more offset you have the weaker the u-joints are. and the sorter their lifespan will be.
