NP208 t-case. The 4-spd could be a SM465 with a super-long output shaft (not much swap potential) or a super-rare 3spd + OD (89mm I think its called?)

ok.....my next question is this....if its a 208 then isnt a 300 a direct swapp? i was at Tom Ellistons shop a few months ago. He was have problems with the 300 so he swapped in a 208. said he didnt even have to really do any mods to get it to work. that being said, would i be able to pull the 208 off of the tranny and replace it with my d300?

That SM 465 will have the super long output shaft, no-biggie for swapping if you're replacing the mainshaft. The output will be 32 spline, and that NP208 will also bolt up to a TH400, usefull if you're trying to sell the t-case. If you really want a Dana 300 behind a SM465, you should buy an adapter, it will be much shorter, try Novak, their kit will have a new mainshaft and adapter that will be only 3-1/2" long, way shorter than anything you could come up with with the stock output and factory adapter, even if you could get a 32 spline input for a Dana 300. you buddy probably replaced his 300 with a 23 spline 208 from a Jeep, or a Chevy case with a Jeep input gear.

Oh yeah, it could be an 89mm, but not likely, I've only seen one in all my travels, mainly a Canadian thing, not likely in your neck of the woods.
