I went to bolt a 350 flywheel on to my 4.3 just to try and test start it, but the bolt pattern was too big. Will the flywheel off a newer model 350 with the 1 piece rear main work, or does it have to be off a 4.3? Also is the 4.3 externally balanced like a 400? The flex plate that came with it had a small weight on it.

It all depends. The 94 I had a one piece rear main and the 87 block I have now has a two piece.

I had to change the flywheel when I changed blocks.

I want to say the 4.3 is externally balanced, so don't just put any flywheel on it!

Thanks. Does anyone know what 5 speed came in the p/u behind the 4.3s?

you have a late model 4.3 and any late model flywheel will work

small pattern 350 or 4.3 168 or 153 tooth you pick

NV3550, I think.

I believe that all the '93 and newer 4.3's are internaly balanced. I don't know when the 350's were, but I imagime you would need a flywheel from the same type as your 4.3.

I have a '97 4.3, and i just bolted a '98 350 flywheel and clutch to it a couple weeks ago, that's with 168 tooth flywheel.

My 94 had a balancer shaft inside, the 87 does not.

Manual tranny behind a stock 4.3 would be an NV3500. If you're gonna wheel try to find an NV4500. The 3500 is an all aluminum case.
