I got a 5 spd tranny out of a 1993 4x4 Chevrolet half ton. The tranny is a 2 piece aluminum tranny. It cant be a NV 3500 because it is one piece, a friend of mine says its not a NV 4500. Is he right or is he wrong? He said that its a borg warner or something, he has its the five speed that goes in the s-10 and could sware its not a NV 45oo could this be? Whats the easiest way to identify it? Thanks

the nv4500 is not aluminum and didnt come in 1/2 tons IIRC so why do you doubt him?

I have seen them in some weird stuff like a 9?' dakota with a 3.9l V-6 and countless chevy halftons so the do exsist in half tons, The NV4500 is cast iron exept for the top cover and over drive extension housing/adapter,
