'CARA' Land Grab Battle Heats Up!!!

*** EMERGENCY!!! *** LAND GRAB ALERT!!! ***

THIS WEDNESDAY, two days from now, July 25, bill number HR 701, called
"CARA" the Conservation and Reinvestment Act, will be voted on by the House
of Representatives Resources Committee.

We have nicknamed HR 701 the "Condemnation and Relocation Act", and
suggest that you do the same, with the bill number, when asking Resources
Committee members to vote NO on this multi-billion dollar land seizure
bill.


*** ACTION ITEM!!! ***

PLEASE phone and fax the members of the House Resources Committee listed
below.

Tell them you oppose HR 701 for any or all of these reasons:

*CARA creates a trust fund with well over ONE BILLION dollars per year
to condemn private property for any of several different reasons, such as:

*Do you have an endangered species on your property? How about if it is
potential habitat for a possibly endangered species? Is there any wildlife
on it? Then watch out - Big Brother may want to grab your land - and CARA
will give government agents over a billion dollars per year to do it.

*Are you a member of a hunting club or do you own property used for hunting
or target shooting? Have you taken good care of it, is it valuable habitat
for many species? If yes, then your club will be at the TOP OF THE
LIST for seizure by state and federal fish and game land acquisition
agents, who will be flush with CARA cash.

*And production agriculture - ranching and farming is incompatible with
federal land management plans for national parks, wildlife refuges, some
forests, national seashores, many United Nations biospheres - the list
goes on and on and on.

*Watch out if it is historic property! The preservationist gang may want
to "preserve" your home - by kicking you out of it any paying you as little
as 10% to 15% of its value!

*And then there is the Urban Parks land grab. CARA proposes that for the
first time ever, UPAR - the Urban Parks and Recreation program - be allowed
to condemn land and subsidize construction of major league sports
facilities. And what a surprise - the Billionaire Boys Club of major
league sports team owners are big, big supporters of CARA because they can
use YOUR tax money to build their stadiums! UPAR has traditionally
funded neighborhood parks, swing sets, swimming pools - but the politically
powerful Billionaire Boys Club will change that.

is really hurting the poor and working people because they keep destroying
jobs, they keep driving up the cost of energy. They keep telling people
how bad things are and they have to keep denying that there have been
improvements over the last 25 or 30 years so they can keep getting in their
big contributions."

THANK Representative Duncan and THANK him for voting against the CARA
Land Grab last year.

HOW DID THIS HAPPEN???

How and why did CARA happen? Why does it have so much support, including
from people who until just a few years ago were supporters of access to
public lands and private property rights? Why did they sell out?

Here is the answer: MONEY. MONEY. MONEY.

In total, CARA spends $46 Billion dollars over fifteen years for a
variety of scams, from land acquisition to grant money for enviro groups
and the United Nations to road construction in Louisiana to police officers
in Alaska.

Oh yes, it is being sponsored by congressmen from - what a surprise -
Louisiana and Alaska! The average state gets $11 per person, per year from
CARA. Louisiana gets $73 per person, and Alaska stuffs its face with $267
per person!

That is why CARA sponsors Congressmen Billy 'Slick Willy' Tauzin from
Louisiana and Don Young from Alaska are selling out your constitutional
rights - for a fat pile of cold, hard cash to spread around to their
political cronies in Louisiana and Alaska. $100 million for Alaska, and a
whopping $300 million for Louisiana.

And why has new Resources Committee Chairman Jim Hansen sold out and
supported the land grab? Same answer: MONEY. MONEY. MONEY. He sold out
for $62 million dollars in road improvements for the 2002 Salt Lake City
Winter Olympics, which will take place in and near his congressional
district in Utah. Don Young and Billy Tauzin cut a deal and paid him off
with your tax dollars, and Jim Hansen said "see ya later, I got mine." Yes
sir, that is Mr. Profiles in Courage - Jim Hansen.

And then there are weasels like Representative Scott McInnis of Colorado.
McInnis talks a big game about property rights when he is with
constituents, like when he gave a speech in front of a western Colorado
rancher at a CARA hearing a few weeks ago. The rest of the story is this -
McInnis promised to fight condemnation, while at the same time he has
co-sponsored CARA - which has over one billion dollars per year to condemn
land!!! Here is the reason - McInnis wants to run for statewide office in
Colorado, so he is pandering to liberals in Denver that he doesn't even
represent!!!
