[[I'll update the announcer part later, when the last video finishes :p]]

A couple of 3-month-old videos (from March) with the 'other' group of indoor competitors across town:

Yer killin me man. Never send a hoser in to do bullseye shooting. You didn't hit that softball, it was just afraid you were going to go for another reload and said "Fawk this, I'm outa here before he realises he has sights on that thing!".

Hey, after the vid of me doing 15 rack and tap drills in one stage, I gots ta give ya some shit when I can.:flipoff2:

Now get to work on the punchline announcer vid, we're waiting.

Ken, Robbie (the short guy with the suspenders who's shooting a Sig) and I were debating wether you could actually kill the softball with a full-magazine bill drill on it. Logically, if I can keep them all in a 12" circle at that distance/speed... Well, one of them will probably hit the ball out of dumb luck, right?

So I decided to test that theory. It don't work.

Halfway through the NEXT mag I remembered I only had about 4 more rounds remaining, and that locating the front sight might be a good idea. ;)

The video is uploading to YouTube right now. Been out with the wife seeing Teminator: Salvation.

On to the next video...

YouTube - Rangemaster IDPA - June 6 2009 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AvmQBBOVdKo)

My dad and I were talking (I just emailed him this) and I realized how much more interesting it is to understand what you're seeing. Without an idea of the scenario, you're just watching BANGBANG BANG BANG for five minutes. This help?

Stage 1: No video

Stage 2: Draw AFTER lifting the baby, shoot 2 and 2 stong-hand, hide the baby behind the bulletproof engine/cingular advertisement, and shoot 2 more thugs around the back windshield of the car.

Stage 3: Shoot the swinger 3 times, using cover around the left side of the wall, shoot remaining targets 3 times each. Reload any time you like. Since this isn't actually an IDPA-affiliated club, speed reloads were allowed. I did several that night.

Stage 4: Six targets. Shoot all the bodies, closest to farthest. Then repeat with the heads. You must reload from slide-lock.

Stage 5: The fun one. 3 rounds in each pitbull, 3 to the charging owner of the freshly executed dogs. Reload whenever. If the man reaches you, you're % ". One guy came really close. You can see the confetti as his muzzle-blast blew all the paster tape off the target.

6:55 into the video, Bob decided to break out his announcer voice (he spent 10 years as a radio DJ years ago, before he became an airline pilot) and graciously jumped in with the color commentary.

Stage 6: You wake up in the middle of the night to find that the zombie corpses of the pitbulls from stage 4 are... er... molesting your dog (the no-shoot). 2-to-the-body and 1-to-the-head on all 3 targets.

I really like stage 5!! :)

Also, you'll notice that I'm actually using my carry gear in the video. The guys almost fainted when they heard I was giving up the 34.

It's a huge difference. That swinger would have been shot with 3 rounds on the very first exposure normally, and I'd have won the stage. Bob D won because he pulled that off, and no one else did. We all had to wait 4 seconds for it to swing out again. I almost caught him by moving faster to the wall, and ripping off 9 shots while only missing the bullseyes once.

Stage 4 cost me the overall win.I simply can't transition between heads as fast with extra recoil and a much shorter gun. I didn't see enough on three of the heads, and sure enough... I barely got one of them on paper, and the other two were misses. Gotta learn to slow down with hotter ammo.
A 0.20-0.25 split at 7 yards is okay with the long gun, but the exta recoil of the compact (and it's stock recoil spring) mean I've got to wait a bit longer for the gun to settle down.

Still, when you can come in 4th overall amongt some pretty good shooters using the ammo and equipment that you actually plan to defend your life with, it's a comforting feeling.

Tomorrow I'll be at a USPSA match, despite being dog-sick and totally having lost my voice. I'm going back to the 34 for that one. Should be a big change going back. :)

Here's the top-10 scores from last night: (lets see if this comes out neatly columned)...

I really like stage 5!! :)
Stage 5 was a great one. I plan to reuse it soon at the other indoor range (the one I run the match in).

I wanted to shoot it again, about half the distance to the bad guy. Really put the pressure on - just move the closer dogs back next to the far one, and shoot it like that. A couple people wanted to see if I could do it... But we barely had enough time to finish the last stage as it was before the range closed.

Stage 5 looked like fun, advancing target adds to the pressure factor. Good to see Bob is still playing with the revolver.

His commentary rocked, FTDR for being left handed.

The best part is that, if you remember, Bob is also a lefty.

  :D

He's shootig Stock Revolver now, which means speedloaders instead of moon clips. Pretty sure it's a Smith 686. Obviously it's a 38 now instead of the gun you saw, which was a 10mm he loaded 40S&W into as his Enhanced Revolver gun.
