: Front Suspension Links ????
71RCKCRZR RYAN 09-08-2002, 10:07 PM IM GANNA LINK THE FRONT SO I CAN LOWER THE CRUZAH,AND STOP BENDING FRONT SPRINGS......
I WANT TO USE A 3 LINK....TWO ARMS WITH A WISH BONE.......
DOES THE FRONT GEOMETRY HAVE TO BE AS MUCH THOUGHT OUT AS THE REAR??
I HAVE MINIMAL ROOM AND ITS GANNA BE A PITA
I hope you're gonna run full hydro steering with that....
And the front geometry has to be thought about just as much if not more than the rear.

FULL HYDRO:confused: WHY??
ANY REASON WHY IT HAS TO BE MORE THOUGHT OUT .......
71RCKCRZR RYAN 09-08-2002, 10:19 PM HYDRO????
CAUSE THE BUMP STEER HUH........

because the force travels through the steering
and you drag link will push the front end Side to Side
sounds gay but you will need a panhard bar to keep axle push under control
but you like that gay stuff . EH??
Adam,
71RCKCRZR RYAN 09-08-2002, 10:25 PM I SEE...........
WAHT ARE MY OPTIONS THEN .......MINIMAL ROOM......FROM THE FRAME OUT IS FINE. UNDER IS WHERE IT GETS TIGHT CAUSE I WANNA KEEP IT LOW.
I WAS ALSO THINKING OF TWO ARMS LIKE A RE LONGARM KIT.....WITH A PANHARD BAR...WUTCHA THINK

Good Idea,, I have seen people using 4 links attached this way with the pass side sleeved with tubing that slides ,,, Not secured like the RE kit to the Link,,,, it slides over the link and axle movement is free of the binding that occurs under this setup
make some small mock ups this helps when building front suspension
The TJ system works in the front and I have linked the front with a 60 and tight confines ( motor over axle) and panhard it was bind free so it can be done look at a TJ
I feel the front should never flex as much as the rear in NON Full hydro aplications becuase of the Need to steer:confused:
but who needs to steer
Adam,
Adam Ant 09-08-2002, 11:31 PM ZUES-69 CAMARO WITH LOTS O SIKASSHIT.....FOR SALE
oh yeah how much ????
Adam,
Jason R 09-08-2002, 11:42 PM I was thinkin of the RE thing in the front of my rig, and then in the back a Wishbone 3 link. I just want to have pretty even flex, is my only choice limiting straps?

what are you using Coils or Coilovers 1/4 elip or double shackle
Coil's= bump stops, limiting straps
Coilovers = bump stops and playing with coil rates and
limiting Straps to protect the shock
1/4 elip = I have found that bump stops help the front to start flexing like they should and limiting Straps
Double shackle= Nothing
oh yeah you will not like the wish bone rear
go 4 link easier to Adjust and Service in case it is needed
Adam,
YELLER BLAZER 09-09-2002, 04:45 AM Don't mean to interupt but why won't he like a wishbone in the rear?

Steve,
I think wishbone 3 links are an okie thing. ;)
How is your progress going?

billj 09-09-2002, 08:30 AM That Camaro´s got a bad rear seal......:flipoff2: :D
Jason R 09-09-2002, 09:07 AM Ill either be running coils or coilovers. And also, whats wrong with the wishbone 3 link?

I said it my other post
I am not going into whats better
Easier to adjust and service
Bushing's wear and heims do too
I run 1 1/4 shank rod ends both upper lower 2 1/8 dom 250 wall sleeved with 1 5/8 dom 120 wall and when thay bend or start to bend I can fix them easily
and when you need to service it with four link you remove 1 link at a time no need to jack up vehicle and fight it
And pinion adjustment is easier in My opinion
I have had both and prefer 4 link in the Rear or Rev 4link
Adam,
YELLER BLAZER 09-09-2002, 03:05 PM I got mine reworked and is awsome. I am running a 3 link with wish bone front and rear, the truck is stable controled and predictable, all with rockwells and 44's.
As far as full hydro steering I don't think it is neccessary for a wishbone set up I do how ever run johnny joints at all mounting points on the axles, I do not run heim joints on any suspension links, I've broke them all even the 11/4" ones. I have some freinds that run saginaw steering with a rock ram on 44's with a wish bone and no problems, at one point one of them had a spring eye bushing on the axle and he kept cutting the sides off of the bushing, he changed to a johnny joint and hasn't had any more problems.
71RCKCRZR RYAN 09-09-2002, 05:06 PM I WOULDNT THINK I WOULD HAVE ANY PROBS BUT THATS WHY I POSTED.
I WAS THINKING OF RUNNING SPRING BUSHINGS ON THE WIDE PART OF THE WISHBONE AND A JJ VERTICLE ON THE SINGLE SIDE........THE AXLE SIDE......
AND JJ THOUGHOUT THE REST OF THE ARMS......
I AM STILL DEBATING......MORE POSTS PLEASE
bent70 09-09-2002, 05:58 PM I am debating the same for my dd/rubicon people hauler.
I want to run bushings on the frame side of the wishbone since its cheaper and the only movment is rotating up and down. The axle side is the one with the most movement so a jj will do there.
I haven't tried the concept but can the wisebone still control side to side movement if it was ran backwards?(two points on the axle and one on the frame)

)
there will be deflection in the Bushing and youre front end will move. eventully wearing the bushings (Bad)
I am with yeller on this use JJ on all monting points
seems to be the hot ticket
and my next four link will be all JJ
