I saw a pair of 89 samurai springs for sale on ebay and they advertised that the stock springs used after 88 gave a much better ride than the older type. They seemed to have military wrap on them. I have been fixing up an 87 Sami and the suspension is very stiff, so my question is will there be a significant difference in goingto a newer stock spring? Any one know about this one? And how much should I expect to pay for a set of 4 stock packs at a junkyard? I'm thing about $100 but don't really know.

Not if you live around Sacramento Ca.
The cheapest I've seen STOCK sammi springs a the local recycler and the good old pick & pull is ......$125.00 a spring at the recycler and $75.00 at the pick and pull.
Your better off just waiting to find YJs.

I don't know if there is any difference between the years, but the stock springs are sooo short that they give a harsh ride. If they were soft enough to ride nice at that length, they wouldn't last. If you want stock springs, I have three or four sets in my barn I'll make you a LOT better deal than that. PM me if you are interested.

I can make you a deal on a set of stock 2wd springs, from a 1991 model. the front are missing one leaf (factory) but as I understand it, the rear are identical to the 4wd version.
I also have the stock rear axle, along with dummy front axle available..
