I've got a 1991 F350 7.3L IDI with a rattle in the front. It only rattles when hitting bumps in the road, and after crawling around underneath it i noticed the bushings on the backside of the tie rod are blown out and the tie rod rotates freely. I'm 98% sure this is the issue, but i wanted to get some other possible ideas from the PBB, I've checked anything else that could possibly rattle and everything is on there pretty tight.

Thanks for the help

Stabilizer links? Balljoints?

Sway bars are notorius for rattles. They are under tension when you check them so they feel tight but when you are driving and hit a bump they clatter.

Tie rods usually don't rattle but it would be in everyones best interest if you repaired it before it does. You don't want this to happen:

not much on an axle rattles, brake backing plates? I would say it isnt in the axle

I don't think the 350's had them. If they did, they were alot stiffer than ones on the lighter trucks, but if you do have them you could have a cracked one. Also check your brake pads. The 150 and 250 had anti-rattle clips on the pads themselves, but I think the HD trucks had a spring that held the plates in there firmly. That could have broken and fallen off, or not replaced during the last brake job. Start there...it's the cheapest to fix.

It's not a TTB axle right? Solid D60?

its a solid D60, i can wiggle the tie rod back and forth and it makes the noise i think i'm hearing when i go over bumps ... i'm hoping i can get the bushings seperate (but pretty sure i'm stuck just getting new tie rod ends) i've checked the brakes, axle shafts, drive shafts, steering arm, and springs, and the only thing that is even slightly loose is the tie rod ...
