: Bad Ass Flattie

Here's my vote for flattie of the year.

My buddy PJ the mad fabricator is putting this together. Everything you see, he made- from the 1/8" tub to the bead locks. Its no catalog Jeep, or interweb cookie cutter rig, just an old school leaf sprung flat fender New Hampshire style. I won't bother with specs, 'cause I'll just fuck 'em up, so just check the pics. If you have questions, maybe he'll chime in. I will say he's a dick for cutting up a Ford HP60 for the rear, but it looks killer under there.

Enjoy.

Aside from the pressed wood seats and lack of belts, I like it.

It is for sure cool, but I wonder why he didn't make it a bit wider. Your trails may be a bit tight, but that high and short coupled with narrow will surely make for some pucker moments.

That stock frame isn't going to last long, and I don't think that's a high pinion rear either.

It's a pretty cool build although it's basically useless on any trail with hills (ask me how I know). I would also rethink the seating arrangements since fiberboard doesn't have much cushioning.

Its meh at best. The traction bar can be the crowning moment for your "mad fabricator" friend.

On the way. Still in progress.

It is for sure cool, but I wonder why he didn't make it a bit wider.

Keep it legal-ish, with stock body proportions mostly. I'm sure it'll flop, but the woods trails around here don't see crazy rolls.

I don't think that's a high pinion rear either.

No?

Not bad eh? Building it right there in the dirt, no less.

Already being revised. Thanks for your concern.

Does that say "I tried your Jeep thing now it burns when I pee" on the hood?

Fixed. Yes it does.

looks pretty cool, maybe the 1/8 inch thick body will keep the old tired frame from cracking to pieces!

Not bad, needs a lot of finishing, and personally I would have gone 2" wider to each side on the axle.

What I like most IS the fact you didn't cut it up too much (the hood is the only thing). Nice looking rig, dig the MB (or GPW).

Yeah... when he cut the axles the plan was 34"s and lower.

Me too. I love stock bodied vintage rigs, and with the type of 'wheeling we do, comp cut/dove tail/jungle gym builds are overkill.
