: swapping out 350 for a 5.3 need help

im swapping out my 350 for a 5.3 vortec and was wonderin if anyone has done this and can help me with some questions i have. i hav a 420 tranny so what fly wheel and clutch so i get?

But the transmission my be a problem. Might look at a NV3500 or NV4500 as they came stock behind some LSx truck motors.

You might be able to use the Gen III NV3500 flywheel and a hybrid clutch for the 420. Not sure on the sizes of the NV3500 or 4500 clutches. The LS1 flywheel might be an option as well.

i cant find a flywheel anywhere in the sacramento area! this sucks!

I have used old manual trans and ls type engines. You will need the flywheel/clutch and pilot bearing assembly for a 6.0 2500/3500 truck with manual trans. It places the flywheel surface .400 back to be in the same place as the traditional chevy engines. If you need, I will find the part number for the flywheel. These aren't very expensive from GM.
