i put a volquartsen (sp?) trigger in mine and love it. i've been shooting it a lot lately.

i have thought about machining off the molded in grip sides on mine and installing 1911 grips. for no other reason than because i can and the cool factor.

edit: grip mod that made me want to do it: http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=986362&page=1

Where'd you get the trigger setup from? I've been googling that...

I have a 1911 hogue grip i`m wondering if I can adapt...., I did buy a slip-over hogue grip that is nice, but not as nice as the screw-on type.

i'm not positive where i got my trigger, it was many moons ago. it is listed on volqartsen's site though. mine looks different than their picture so they may have changed the design since then. https://www.volquartsen.com/pictures/48-mkiimkiii-accurizing-kit

I would start with a heavy barrel and stock to match :D If you are going to get a Vol action or trigger and replace the stock and barrel, you may as well sell the gun, you'll only use a few stock parts anyhow.

it would take a machinist to change a barrel on one of these and a stock would probably make it illegal:laughing::flipoff2:

Or you could have not assumed it was a 10/22 :flipoff2: :flipoff2::flipoff2:

Here is the center of the .22 universe, literally a metric shit ton of info for anything .22.

http://www.rimfirecentral.com/

Before you even think about modding anything, get out there and put at least 1000 rounds through it, scratch that, make it 2000 just to get a feel for how damn fun these pistols are.

Get one of these, it'll make shooting a lot more fun, and the ammo dissapear even faster.

and a vid of how it works, I love mine.

Me likey the reloader. I have a Mark III (not the 22/45 version) and like it. The worst part of it is the reassembly- so mine doesn't get cleaned much!

Need to add an extended slide release to mine.

Other than that shoot it!

All the reading I've done says that the MK series does not like to be chambered by hitting the lever, lever tends to break. Better to just slingshot it.

I had a Marvel trigger (overtravel and pretravel stops, adjustable length-of-pull, too) and a Volquartsen target sear in my MkII 22/45. It was scary awsesome.

Think "worlds lightest 1911 trigger" and a TOTAL travel of about the thickness of a buisness card. It made clicking a computer mouse feel like a lot of work. Pull measured 18.5 ounces when I tested it.

I eventually took the sear out, and backed the stops off on the trigger. Now it's stock-ish again.

There wasn't much point in using the .22 to practice shooting on the cheap, when it didn't do jack for improving trigger control on center fire guns. Just made their triggers feel like crap in comparison.

Need a volquartsen sear? I've got one, and I think it cost me all of $20 new.

The Ultimate Clip Loader widget should be mandatory. It works as well as the video shows.

xeleventybillion on the ultimate clip loader, if you can't get it to load ten rounds in your mag, adjust the screw on the loader.

modify the mags as a last option (doing so prematurely as a solution for feeding issues could result in loader issues later)

Volquartsen trigger is good, sear is cheap and easy, didn't see it before, but do the edge extractor, best upgrade so far on my MkIII hunter 6 7/8

throw some loctite on the front sight screw

watch this video a few times, best explanation I have seen on assembly quirks

I'll second that, mine came loose at about 1500 rounds and it seems to be pretty common from what I've read. Its pretty annoying when you drive 30 minutes to the range and it comes loose on the second mag and you don't have a screw driver :shaking:

I shoot mine as it came out of the box, with the exception of adding a piece of friction tape to the front of the grip. It is the most accurate pistol I have ever shot...
