Looking for a new place to ride. Since Tellico has closed and it sounds like Slade may not be open for a while our group is trying to find another spot to hit. Our rigs are on 38-39 inch tires, locked, not worrired about body damage etc.. Is there enough stuff to hit and challengeing enough to make it worth the drive?

Search what, Dude? We hit Harlan a couple of times a year, I'm familiar with it. I'm looking for first hand knowlege of Wellsville.
Searching Wellsville doesn't come up with any good info, which is why I'm askin'.

It's a fun place to ride if your into southern wheel-speed climbing, If you road in Livingston it's very similar. Mostly power line hills with muddy ass bottoms and a lot of drunk fawkers.

It's somewhat confusing as to where to camp and where you can ride when your in certain places on the property...

A couple years back the property was purchased buy the department of energy and was supposed to be turned into some sort of coal processing facility... the area's future has seemed vague ever since.

We used to ride Livingston a few times a year when it was completely open, plenty of rocks and was able to avoid most of the mud while there. I can do without the drunks on the trails and prefer to skip the mud whenever possible. Guess we'll keep looking. Thanks.

So where are you driving from? That woudl help us to reccomend some parks.

Indiana has some parks open now Interlake, Badlands, and Redbird are all pretty good parks to ride.

I'm in SW Ohio. We've done Badlands, Tellico, Harlan, Livingston etc over the last twenty years or so. I had hoped to do Paragon this year but....
I prefer rocks over mud which means we have to drive a pretty good ways to wheel. I haven't been to Redbird yet because everyone I've talked to said there weren't a lot of challenging trails there. We don't camp ( I've camped my whole life, I like a shower and bed when I go wheeling) so we either Motel it or stay in a rental.
MURPH, nice pics, mighty nice of ya to offer the tour, doesn't look like we'll be going to Wellsville this trip though. Thanks.

Yes it's worth it. But I'd search for those that know the place and wheel with them. I'd hate to see you break down. Leave to get parts and find your rig a smoldering pile of ash. (not just your wheeler) Oh, and there are trails there that will stop 39's!

Wellsville has lots of challenging rock climbs and is a fun weekend trip... I was trying to be nice before but I'll spell it out in less politically correct terms now.

The locals come out in the evening and into the night ... there will be no shortage of drunk , mullet wearing shirtless trouble makers looking for action.. much like Livingston on a busy weekend.

Drunks, mud and vandals.... not sounding to inviting. Think I'll cross this one off the list.

You tube Wellsville. There is some good stuff there. Usually 1 life flight a month! There are a lot of ass monkeys running around, but they are at every place.

Holy fock! for real? Wellsville has it moments but you guys are making sound like a episode of cops. Yes if you go there on a holiday weekend there are alot of people. And yes the locals usually do ride buggies etc. at night. That being said I have never had a problem there And I wheel there alot. I have taken my dad, family girlfriend etc. etc. there. There is stuff from mild to wild, stuff that no one has made. But hey believe what you want, everything on the internet is true! :D For real if you want to make a trip its a good weekend trip. I have travled way further for way less. PM myself or Murph and we will show you the good trials.

Hmmm...:shaking: You haven't talked to the right people. Right now the DNR is pushing the foundation to make a couple trails for those running 33's and smaller if that gives you any idea of what it's currently like.

I'd recommend you give it a try (specifically trails 4 & 27)

Wellsville is great. We have a camp there in the oaktree campground.
There is everything you could want with climbing and rocks and trails.
We love it. We can wheel all day and all night, do what you want.
There are alot of Hellabillies but everybody we have met so far has been cool and helpful.

Badlands owns some property adjacent to the park known as Mission Impossible.
I've never done it but hear it's excellent.
Strictly hardcore and only available with guiding from the parks owner.
You have to set up a group to do it.
I'm gonna try and set something up in the next few weeks.
Let me know if you're interested in coming out.

Well, finally got a call back from Kyle, owner of Badlands.
They want approx $500 to take a group through MI
That means a pretty good size group to make it palatable.

Thats funny that an outcast member says its closed but yet we ran into the outcast group 2 weeks ago when there...

With wellsvilles current state its simple. If the are had been LOGGED DO NOT go there, if it hasnt it should be fiine,

TONS of trails over ont he forbiddon zone that most people dont even know about.

DAMN!!!!!!!! I thought they were doing guided rides a few times a year on M.I. IF the trail is that bad I wouldnt want to be in there with more than 5 rigs anyway. $500 seems pretty steep. Looks like the gatekeeper is letting people in Wellsville! haha! :flipoff2:

He said he's had groups of 10-15 well built rigs without problems.
Sounds like a recipe for disaster to me.

$50 for a day of wheeling is pretty steep.
