Right turn signal on my trailer stopped working. doesnt work on both of my trailers. no power comming out of the factory trailer plug on the right turn pin. Fuses for trailer stop/turn have power and are ok. When i turn the left turn on there is a strong relay clicking sound under the hood in the general fuse box location but I can not find it. If i turn the right turn on there is a pathetic weak turn signal sound in the same general direction. What is up? Is there a relay I can change or is this in the controll module? Dodge techs help!

there is alot of info on cummins forum. Here is one thread about it: http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/3rd-gen-non-powertrain/102893-right-turn-signal-don-t-work-trailer.html I guess its pretty common

Uhgg...that sucks. It is your PDC (Power Distribution Center). The trailer turn relay in question is soldered to a PC board on the under side of the PDC. It is not user replacable. It seems the dealer wants to sell you a whole IPM (Integrated Power Module) which is the PDC and FCM (Front Control Module) combined. I have heard rumours of being able to buy just a PDC but have not seen it myself.

Thanks for your help guys. I have about had it with this truck. See my post in the dodge board. I am still a die hard dodge fan because this is the only lemen of a truck my family has had out of 7 dodge ctd. I would love to keep this truck but I think it may be time to let it go. Right after I posted this I had more issues....Please check out my post ont he dodge board and see if you can help me out.

I called my local dodge dealer and they said its a power controll module and its 229.00. is this the same as the power distribution center? Howhard is this thing to swap out? is there a way to prevent this from happening again? I tow different trailers quite often so I need to fix this.....

I'm going to guess that they are referring to the PDC....not sure why they can't get their own terminology straight. Usually, PCM = Powertrain Control Module. At $229, I'd say that his the PDC only (which is what you need) and no the whole IPM.

As far as fixing the problem permanently, it should. But relays don't last forever. So, unless you are willing to dismantle the PDC (it has been done but is not easy) and replace relays yourself, a PDC would have to be changed out. Some hotshotters and RV haulers gave up on the crappy dodge PDC and wired a remote trailer signal module that is triggered off of the truck tail light circuit.

You could run something like this if you want to bypass the stock dodge trailer lighting

How does that bypass OE lighting? It appears to plug into the OE 7 pin connector. I have an 06 Dodge and there is a common problem with TIPM failures resulting in similar lighting issues. If this does indeed bypass the Dodge lighting it would be perfect for me.

I am trying to source a used pdc. What years would be interchangeable? If I cant find a good used one I will buy new but I hate wasting that much money on something to fix a damn blinker.... I have so many other expensive issues with this truck that need to be attended to......

This happened to one of my buddy's 04 ram. He had the module flashed to fix it. It was under warranty, but in the last month. I don't understand why anyone would think that integrating trailer lighting would be a good idea, it's retarded.

The idea would work just fine if the fawking PDC had user replacable relays for the trailer signals.

OK, I had this same thing happen to my 06' 3500.
Apparently it was my fault too. I had placed a little grease in the ball receiver of my trailer. The system is set up to ground through the ball... problem.
Dealer made the repair under warranty and needles to say I keep the ball and trailer clear of any lube now. Haven't had an issue with it since.

well i ran my truck into the dealer cuz there were two other recalls to take care of. one for steering draglink and one for transmission line rupture causing fire. I had them check my trailer brake/turn light issue and they wanted almost 1500 bucks!!!!!!! to fix it. I have a few options now. Find a used one(is there any way to test it?) or replace it with something like cdt nut said. Are there any articles on replacing the factory pdc anywhere? Repairing the burnned relay? Adding a secondary trailer brake controll unit? If anyone can point me in the right direction to some good info I would appreciate it. TTL

I have to bring it into the shop to have the muffler bearings checked so I will have them top off the blinker fluid. Thanks for the heads up! ok seriously anyone?

Do some searching on dieseltruckresource.com under 3rd gen non drivetrain using keywords "PDC" and "trailer signals". There is lots of reading including articles on wiring in a separate trailer signal module triggered by the vehicle signals and there are two other write ups on dismantling and replacing the relays in the PDC.

Federal law says the ground has to be a wire that runs through a plug. Dealer was blowing smoke where it didn't belong. I hope you didn't believe that shit.
