Long time Lurker, newbie poster so -:flipoff2:

Yes, I have searched but this is a strange question.

I have a D44 heavy duty out of a 70's ford (model and year unknown). This is the 44 with the closed knuckles but with the bigger (297 size) u-joints. I am in the process of converting to discs. The stufff I have comes off a Chevy ( I guess) so everything fits fine, if I use the chevy outer axleshafts. These are noticeably smaller than the ford shafts as well as 1/4 inch shorter.

My ? is - Is is possible to remove the roller bearing from within the disc brake hub and replace it with a bearing that will accomodate the larger Ford shaft? allowing me to run the beefier shafts?

Any other tips regarding the 44 closed knuckle?

Grant Get me the BOM (Front center) and I'll get some info for you. Also get some pictures, e-mail if you can;t post.
Also, get a new spindle bearning, they're cheap, I have the part number, just not the time to look it up.
