: Sidekick brake bleeding issue

Howdy all,

I recently had my 89 sidekick apart to fix the rear locker and front ring and pinion. I unfortunately, tore it apart like a Samurai since that is what I know best which involved taking the rear backing plates off when I pulled the axle out. Anyway, I put it all back together and have not been able to get the brakes to bleed succesfully. I've bled them from the 4 points that I found. 1 on the left rear, 1 on the rear proportioning valve and 1 each on the front discs.

I've pumped a ton of fluid through there and the brakes are still mushy. Anyone have a suggestion?

Thanks, Eric

Hmmm... you mention the proportioning valve, but NOT the right rear cylender. I bet your air buble is there just past the Proportioning valve, especially if you lost a fair amount of oil from the left line when you tore it down.

Start over bleeding from Right rear first, then the left rear, then the front right, and front left. that should do it.

good luck

Yeah, because there isn't a right bleader. The tube goes into the right backing plate and then out to the left rear. I thought this was WAY weird too...

I've done a few brake jobs where I have had to drive around a little to work the air out, then rebleed. Pain in the nuts

You did put the lines in the correct positions right:confused: the feed line should be the bottom, the crossover should be the top, so the air will go through it to the left side to bleed it.
