I'm in the process of of putting disk breaks in the rear. I found a place for the brackets to hold the caliper. I can get a bracket for the older style gm calipers are the smaller ones on the later model trucks. I have a set of both style setting on the self in the shop. So is there an advantage of any kind one over the other? And if i decided to worry about the e break at a latter date. does the Cadillac caliper have the same bolt patter as one of these and if so which one?

There are a big caliper that gm d60's use, and a smaller one a straight axle d44 uses from the 70's and early 80's(not sure what cutoff year was). The one the d44 or 10 bolt use is around 7in from mount pin to pin. the smaller one is used on cars primarily(not sure what truck/suv would have them) and are roughly 5in apart(could be slightly more) and do not fit the 8lug rotor of a 3/4 ton or d60. So, aside from holding power being less on a smaller caliper, its best to use the 7in spaced caliper.

red, i think he is talking about the difference of 69-85ish calipers and the 86+. they last of the calipers had a slightly bigger piston but are otherwise identical.
i doubt you would gain anything at all but you have them on the shelf so.......
