: Weekend Update 613- 6/14
Blind Driver 06-14-2009, 08:28 PM I swapped the pickup pan onto the Scout. Noticed a silver sludge in the pan. Had to change the pickup oil pump as it has a different housing then the Scout. forgot to knock out the dipstick plug in the block while the pan was off. Hopefully a hammer and a long chisel will get it out.
Sludge+hardly any oil pressure= engine swap
I have a 392 that is in good shape, but I think I'm going to find a Chevy pickup and swap in my 500/4L80e, dial it all in, then swap it all into the Scout by the fall.
Got my arms reamed deeper and the crossover steering is ready as soon as I get the exhaust modified and will get the toe-set at the same time. Install my H1 wheels.tires, then it's time to see where I want my front and rear shocks to be mounted.
ChestonScout 06-14-2009, 10:59 PM Hung out at TTC all week. Wheeled the Scout a little bit.
Competition was crazy this year. Very cool to be there to witness it.
Oh....and I ran over a turtle
Binder 06-14-2009, 11:29 PM Took second place. :smokin:

Worked on my exhaust rerouted for the T/C change out. Mostly done, but needed to order a couple clamps from Summit. Got the shifters installed and a bunch of stuff buttoned up. Ordered a shift boot for the three shifters.
Diesel Smoke 06-15-2009, 03:56 AM Took second place. :smokin:

Congradulations!!
As far as my working and sleeping went. I did a hole bunch of working and very little sleeping. I've averaged about 4-5 hours a night!
uglyscout 06-15-2009, 08:30 AM Friday: Worked on my trailer. Got the brakes dialed back in after a couple years of abuse and wear.
Saturday: Wheeled. It went great 'til my PS box decided to blow fluid out the top seal. Then at some point after that I broke a front axle shaft...
Me trying to roll my Scout over the top...

It was close, but I gased it at the right time and kept the front end moving.
Sunday: Unlike my predition I spent the day working on my truck. Fixed the broken axle, pressure washed the mud off the truck for an hour, looked at the leaking power steering box, looked at the bent rear spring. Got sidetracked for 2 hours fixing my garage air compressor. It was leaking at the check valve into the tank at 70-80 psi, the comprssion fitting had started to leak, it wouldhn't get any more air in the tank once it started to leak and it would run non-stop. $1.00 later at the hardware store I had it back in action and building full pressure.
Urban Wheeler 06-15-2009, 09:04 AM I did exactly what I said I would do.
Today I'll spend some time at the lake burning some stuff, spraying round-up on the poison ivy and everything else that is behind the garage, and swim a little.
crashhawk 06-15-2009, 09:25 AM :(I did exactly what I planned, and it sucked just as bad as I had anticipated.:(
tsm1mt 06-15-2009, 12:14 PM I got sick, had to bail on a overnight wheeling trip for the weekend because I felt like crap and didn't get the Scout put back together.
Otherwise.. tightened up the exhaust on the Green Scout, replaced the high-pressure steel fuel line that failed (rubbed at the body mount) and thought about fixing a slight kink in the rear brake line, but need some 3/16" fittings instead of 1/4".
Cleaned the shop a *little* bit. Getting closer to getting my trail rig back out of the shop - the workbench / hood is half cleaned off, so I might be able to get some brake fluid into the master cylinder soon. :)
Snoopy 06-15-2009, 12:30 PM 11 yr. old Scout campout Frid-Sat. Girls Camp dinner on Sat night. Hung out at the house all Sun.
ChiScouter 06-15-2009, 03:18 PM Of course I got sidetracked and everything took 3x longer than expected. I had to rig up a crane to pull the motor off of my boat. I usually adapt my engine hoist with the built in hand winch that takes 15 minutes, but it is out of the area. Instead I used my old commercial engine hoist, but the base was too wide to fit in the trailer so I had to make up a new one.
I checked out a CL ad, and for $170 I came home with jackstands that go from 20 to 36 inches, a orbital super sawzall, portaband, and 2 newer shocks for my POS old chevy truck.
Finally I got my new transom installed and went for a ride
