right now i have a tank behind the seat(metal) and i'm gonna use a ramcharger rear mount tank. i plan to mount it flat with the bottom of the frame rail with a flat skid frame rail to frame rail. it will probably be higher than the bottom of the bed, but i'm putting a flat bed on it with the floor high enough to cover it. i have the choice of a metal one or the plastic one. which to use and why? how many gallons are these tanks? thanks for the info in advance.
:D

well, if you're gonna skidplate it good i'd just go plastic for weight, longevity, etc...

Another vote for plastic. Not much of a concern at this point, but in the long run weight will be your friend should you have to drop it for any reason... and... plastic = no internal corrosion.

the corrosion is what i was thinking about. plus i think the plastic will flex if it does get pushed around instead of bent.
whts wrong with the one behind the seat? my kid's gonna be about 6" away from it, and i dont want me or my family to burn to death in an accident.;)
how many gallons are the plastic ramcharger tanks?

Very good point. The old crew cab I got has one of these also; I hadn't thought about it much yet, but after reading that I'm pretty sure that space will be converted to store a hi-lift, shovel and axe, spare parts etc.
I think that the old Ramcharger tanks are 20 gallons (maybe 25) but I'm not really sure. I do know that JC Whitney sells a steel 45-gal. replacement; 96RQ3022WF. Only costs about $10/gal

thats expensive. thats a big tank though. i was measuring and i think i'll put the tank right behind the shock crossmember. the rest of the frame after the shackles(moved forward 5") will be chopped off. then on goes the flatbed:D

My 75 Ramcharger came with a 36 gallon plastic tank. I am not sure if it was the only option.

i would go with plastic... my opinion. im goin to just get a fuel cell though..
im thinking of going with flat bed also. till then im just goin to bob the bed cut the frame behind the rear shackles. going to go with shackle flip to get rid of the factory lift blocks and 4 in' lift.

fuel cells are great, except the fact that the AN fittings cost to damn much. ran one in my heep ;)
i might be running tbi so the stock type pump mounted in the tank would be easier to adapt(not that is a big deal either way). :D
