Title says it all. It's down to these 2.

I'll be running 33 12.5 15's on the EB. 35's won't give me much room without any more cutting. ;)

I thought your Eb came with 35's:confused:

I'd go with the MTR's and atleast 35's. Aren't you running 4.56's with a C4? Ifso I think you'll like the 35's better

CG there is nothing wrong with a little metal trimming. Get the 35 MTRS YOU WILL BE HAPPY. Or if you want to hang with the big dogs get the 37 MTR's :D

I run MTR's on my Full Size. I run TSL SX's on my heap. I would have to say that if you are going to put the miles on your automobile get the MTR's they are awesome on road and offroad! For some reason for true offroad I cant get away from the SX. IT work very well in alot of conditions which is what we are faced with here in IN.

If you only need minor trimming I would trim away. Like it was mentioned above if you are equipped with the gears and axles run the tires. I made a bad decision when I went with 36's then decided that I wanted 38.5. It is costly to trade a new set of tires for a new set of tires. JMO

I'm on my second set of swamper radials, and will be buying a 3rd set in time for the snow. Their sizes run really short and narrow, so keep that in mind.

If you'll be on the pavement most of the time, you'll probably get more miles out of the MTR's.

From my experience, I think the swampers do a little better on the PNW trails.

I sold my swamper radials for some 37 MTR's. My swampers actually were more quiet on the road. Ride quality is about the same. MTR's are really soft (at least the 37's are), way softer than swampers, so you may actually get less miles out of them than a set of swamper radials. Another difference, is the tons of weights used to balance the swampers, compared to the zero ounces I'm running now. The MTR's ride great with no weights upt o 85 or so. As far as bias v. radial, radials air down better for snow. I don't know about you guys up there, but we run about 2lbs down here in the snow, bias tired get a flat patch, when radials bulge, leaving a nice footprint.

That's the main reason I run a radial.

Seems to me the radial swampers were softer than the MTR's. I'll have to check it out again. Sure the smaller MTR lugs aren't making it seem like softer rubber?

just compared them to a 38.5 last week. The guy who owned them thought they were softer, till he felt the difference

after using MTR's and Swamper's both on the same terrain a weekend apart, i HATE the MTR's, what a waste! i have them on my 4runner for street driving now and they are a shitty street tire... they humm just as much as swamper's and even at 35psi are loose feeling at 60-65mph

just got MTRs for my grocery getter. They work very well on the Nor Cal granite. 8PSI on an 8" rim (lost a bead at 6PSI) I have no interest in running in mud. Balanced very nicely, drove 80 MPH from Fordyce no problems. Don't be afraid to hack your fenders some, I am sure there are many willing folks here that will help.

get PJ Dirt Grips and then someone will be able to tell me how they do, and how they last!....ive had good luck with MTR's, a lot of wheeling miles, multiple 20 mile trips at 10psi, and 38,000 total miles on em and im still at about 6/32's tread. why are you lookin at tsl radials and not ssr's?

I run the 37" r-15 mt/r's and I like them over the bias ply's I had on the wet rocks and mud. The ride is nice to and from the trial with them as well...which is why I opted for the big mt/r's.

So far I have no complaints for my use of the mt/r's.

If you are a webwheeler and chiming in with no practical experience then.....:flipoff2:

Here is a 37" r-15 mt/r on a 10" wheel next to my old 35" bias plys....

They ride great...no suspension mods needed and the reduction in weight (bias v. radial) has balanced out the gearing difference of the taller tires....seems to have more power with the mt/r's now.

Nobody ever wishes they had bought a smaller tire....go with the 35's at least. A little sawzall never hurt anyone.....

Thanks for all your replies guys!
Still working it out....I don't want them to rub, but I am leaning more towards the 35's (what's on it now.) Maybe take an inch off the fenders wihtin a couple months. :D That body is just too straight and I'm too attached to screw it up right now, so she won't go out every damn weekend. I'd like to get her running to be a *possible* DD if the need arose, but I am keeping my car also for now. The biasplys that are on there now are almost slick-I have decided they will be the first thing to go! I 'officially' take ownership on thursday evening, but she is in my dirveway as we speak. :)
So far, it's the 35 12.5 MTRs winning me over.

Amanda :)

Sounds like Wilson has the only "real world" answers to your questions so far. I have not ran SS radials before, just the TSL and SX. I do run the 37" MTR and have zero complaints so far. Seem to be wearing great with at least 4K+ on them since Memorial Day when I got them. I'll buy another set if my 4runner remains my DD. :crossmyfingersthatitisnot: :D Go with what you want and if $$ is an issure get the best price on either. I would aslo get the 35's at least.

i cant comment on MTR real world use (yet) i bought 35x12.50s and havnt' hit the trails yet, i upgraded from 32" TSL radials...

They are about the same weight as the 32s so you'll defeintly notice that, as someone else said... I ordered mine from tirerack.com for $153 + 17each for shipping, (no tax) that was the best i could do on price, locals wanted over 2 bills each +tax etc....

id go with 35s on a bronc. it measues a hair under 35" w/ no load....

good luck

I've run both MT/Rs and TSL Radials when my rig was a DD. In my experience, the MT/R is a vastly superior tire in any category except mud, which I do my best to stay away from. Rockcrawling tore the sidewalls out of those TSL Radials like wet tissue paper; never scratched the MT/Rs.

Now I run 38.5 SX, but if I were on a DD, I'd run the MT/R without question. Oh, go for at least the 35, you won't be sorry.

I have run both MTR's and SSR's and think that they offer about the same performance off and on road. I put more miles on the SSR's but never found an advantage of any significance. I think the SSR's look better but they cost more, and they may not look any better to you. I will say that the SSR's took some pretty serious cuts in the sidewalls without ever failing me.

Good Luck
