after selling off my k-5 blazer years ago theres always been the need another off road rig, but the last one i built cost over 8k to build...well not this time i plan to stay under 3k!!!
to start i found a 75 cj5 with a willys body on it for only 600 bucks!
the tires were pretty much junk and i put tubes in them
the plan was to wheel it as is for a while and do some body work until i got all the parts for the drive train...well a little while turned into 5 years, but its finally ready for its make over!
here it is with a roll bar and seats i got out of a chevy pick up i took to the scrap yard

you should have left the roll bar with the chevy...cut those rear fenders to look a little more normal and start building.
ya maybe but after doing a lot of body work and putting the window up it started to look a lot better....but didnt fare to well in the mud..the tired 4.2l doesnt exactly do the trick anymore
here it is stuck

anyways the plan is to put in a 350 with sm465/np205 and some beefy axles all of which i got for free from scrap trucks:)
i finished rebuilding the 350 and onto making a wooden jig to figure out how to mount it to the frame where i want it..hoping to make the mounts and have it in soooon

Interesting build.
Do you have a goal in mind? Drivetrain, etc..

i have 14bolt ff and a dana 60 for the front. only prob with the d60 is that the pumpkin is on the wrong side for the transfer case output
i also removed 12" lift leaf springs from a truck i scaped so those are going in as well

id rethink the tall springs theyll be super rough and you can trade ford 60's for chevys and make a little too
ya i was thinking the same thing about the springs. but i figured worst case i can take some leafs out to make it softer...i was going to try and trade for a chevy d60 but i like the high pinion of the ford d60 so i think im just going to swap axle tubes...but thats easier said than done

you can also put chevy input into the 205 ford case
good call ill have to see if i can get my hands on one of those...in the mean time i put in the rear springs and 14b today. all and all it went well had to extend my frame about 4 inches so the chevy springs/perches would be in the right spot. the overload springs still need to come out of the spring pack but that can be done later where i figure out where my final height is going to be

I know your on a budget, but man get some jack stands!!!!!
hahaha i have some but they were in the way of rolling the axle under and i just happened to take a pic at that point...but i appreciate your concern!
i was only planning on test fitting the engine and trans this weekend but it went so well i bolted them in and fired it up!
did i mention im putting my radiator in the rear...not sure how thats going to work out. it stayed cool long enough to break in the cam so looks good so far
did i also mention im going to try and run dual alternators? has anyone done this? sounds like it might work to me but if not ill just have to run 2 separate systems 1 for jeep 1 for winch. i have already installed 2 batterys in the rear which are currently hooked in parallel
