My first ramp. I don't know the score and don't care anyway. Just wondering how it compares. Still have stiff rear springs until I build traction bar.

looks good, you might want to get some greasable bushing shackles if you dont have them already

Try ramping again after taking your shocks off to see if they're holding you back some. Or just call it good and go wheel that puppy.

Doesnt look bad, but down travel doesnt look like anything amazing. Maybe something like shocks or brake lines holding it up? or even your shackles are too short and can't handle the range of motion

Looks like something is holding you back. Check your setup too see what everyone else stated above. Are you running a trac bar or two?

Another way to do it is: keep going till you have the rear tire 1' on the air, then start checking whats making it hang... Shocks, leaf clamps, brake lines etc...

Thats easier and will actually tell you whats limiting your flex, check bumpstops, leaf warp, etc...

just be careful, going way too high may roll you

Who needs flex when you have lockers??? .. thats my theory

Lockers wont help when you put the Jeep on its side or with the 4 on the air!

Also there is a difference between OK flex and super twisted flex

That's what the guys with no flex say

I used to say the same thing when I had my YJ, but flex is goooooooooooood. It seems so much more stable when you can keep your sh*t on the ground

When you do your SOA, you'll see the light too Later!

The main things to check with a SOA on a YJ are the e-brake cable, shocks, and spring clamps. These three things were limiting my flex until I loosened up the spring clamps and dealt with the e-brake cable. I decided against going with new shocks since I am about to add 4" lift springs on top of the SOA. I'm just waiting until I get the springs before I order new shocks.

I have Curry Boomerang greasables in the back but they are set fairly tight right now cause of my steering problems. I don't need any more looseness in the rig on the hgwy. I'm sure if I loosened them they'd droop more. E-brake cables are long enough. Shocks too. The springs are definitely stiff in the back as I had to use a full length leaf out of a 4" lift pack to remedy the bad axle wrap until I build the traction bar. I'm actually satisfied with the front flex, it's the rear that can go more. The pass. side rear springs on this picture weren't even flat under compression. My front springs actually go into a little negative arch which is what SOA springs supposed to do. Overall, once I fix the steering and build the traction bar I will rebuild the rear spring pack that should help it a lot. Where can I get some steel degree shims?

Looks about as good as any SOA rig I've seen. You'll find that 99% of the time you won't be able to lift a tire. Whats more important than being able to drive off the end of the ramp is good driving skills.

You can try Rubicon Express. I got my 4 degree steel ones from them.

You need to get the drivers back tire INSIDE the ramp. If you got anymore flex the angle you are heading up, you'd drive the rear tire up the ramp too and before you know it you'd be on your side

Here's a pic of my friends SOA CJ7 using YJ springs and revolvers in the rear.
He also has a MORE shackle reversal up front.

Yeah, that sure looks nice. I don't fancy revolvers however. How'bout some JCW YJ springs? I heard they're military wrapped (or is it only the CJ ones?) but do they provide any lift over stock?

I just used some of the JCW CJ7 HD 7 leaf rear springs with the military wrap to replace my sagged out springs and it looks like they would give you about 2 to 2.5" of lift. I actually gained about 3 to 3.5" of lift from where it sat with my old 1.5" Superlift springs, but then again those Superlifts were sagging.

Howdy, did you put those on a CJ or a YJ? Will the JCW 7 leaf CJ springs fit the YJ? How wide are those?

here are some pic's of mine I have a buggy on all for corners so I get a little bit more flex. My front springs are too stiff so I can't stuff like I want to.

I put those springs on a CJ. I had YJ springs on all 4 corners when I first did my SOA. Since the CJ rear springs are the same 2.5" width as YJ springs I decided to try them out and see how they worked. Haven't had a chance to find out yet, so maybe in a few weeks.

Crazy, what size tires are those? I'm running 33s right now but want to go to 36 TSLs. Do you think they would fit?
