is a factory spacer for a full-time puck that keeps the rear spindle seal pressed against the back of the spindle. A part-time lock-out should have a spring to force engagement of the 2 clutch halves. The spring would work equally as well with the full-time puck to keep the rear spindle seal taught.

Maybe I had too much to drink, but that looks like a bearing race to me, especially since I don't see one inside the hub :confused:

nope not a race I'd never seen one before either but I did change the bearings and races and they were all where they are supposed to be
