: Advice
Stouwie12 06-18-2009, 04:38 PM well i had my first rollover a couple weeks ago (really sucks, very bumed). went over backwards landed on the hood and then kept goin sideways.couldnt believe it but it fired up and i drove it home. God was with me because no one was hurt and the truck only snapped a moter mound and wasted my radiator but suprisinglly thats it. obviouslly some body damage up front. but my question is what now? i just graduated highschool last week (great timing to toss my everyday driver) so the money i have is for collage and the front of my truck is pritty wasted. i need both front fenders, hood, all that crap. tried to take the fenders off but it looks like they are all pinch welded in the wheelwells. didnt want to start cutting in case theirs and easier/cleaner way to do it. just wondering if anyone can shoot me some pics or ideas that wouldnt be too expencive but make the truck look clean again. thanks for all the help.

I hope the college money will be for spelling class :homer:
I have no clue why your pics are not showing up.
zuki4x4chick 06-18-2009, 05:05 PM Buy a cheap commuter car, cage the front end (and the rest of the truck) and call it a day...........
4 wheeling is like racing, you've gotta pay to play......... :D
If you cant do that just fix it with used parts.........(still try and get a cage done either way)
cajunsuzukispider 06-18-2009, 05:29 PM wear your dents proudly. bang 'em out with a big hammer as best as you can, get a good grill guard that sticks up a little high and can protect you next time. fix or replace the radiator.
. and for bonus points, paint what dented it in the dent, that way you have something to talk about with passers by.
jones 06-18-2009, 06:36 PM Ya no doubt. They say chicks dig body damage. He can see if it's true. :D
I'd like to see how wrecked it is. If I check the properties of your pics and then paste the link into my browser it says the pic has been deleted or marked private. You should try to get them to show up for us. :D
Stouwie12 06-18-2009, 06:47 PM sorry didnt even know the pics wernt workin. heres a link to them. i cant get them to show up.

jones 06-18-2009, 06:50 PM Ya, it's crunched. I bet you could straighten it enough to drive again if you wanted.

samiman 06-18-2009, 07:19 PM Man that sucks. Bob told me about it when i went up there on sunday. Thats too bad cause i lust took a tin top to the scraper 2 weeks ago. If you need some help i might be able to help.
Stouwie12 06-18-2009, 07:31 PM its driveable. just need a radiator..which by the way if anyone has one let me know...but ya the one problem is the peice that goes between the two fenders,,,where the headlights and grill are. dont know the name of it but you can see it in one of the pics, its crunched into a sort of A shape and its totally screwed up the adjustment of my headlights. im thinkin bout just cuttin it all out and tubing it. are the fenders welded? also i heard something bout trail gear haveing a tube you can buy that runs all the way around under the hood, and you make your own fenders. havent been able to find it. and thanks jones for postin the pics!!

RATHEFSJMAN 06-18-2009, 10:15 PM im in oklahoma and have two decent fenders and a spare hood that im takin off or go to halks suzuki. they sell new fenders for a good price and an sj410 front grill then u be pimpin. sorry about spelling
shortystowing 06-18-2009, 10:24 PM They aren't welded on they are bolted on, but there are several bolts on each side that hold them on. Lower door hinge bolts, brake line bracket, 3 or 4 10 mm bolts under the fender 1 bolt between the door/fender on each side, body mounts behind grill, and one phillips under the fender's edge in wheelwell. and maybe a couple more I missed. Just took mine off, but mine is pretty trashed.
MilCrawl 06-18-2009, 10:37 PM If you want to make your own tube fenders you will have to relocated/build new mounts for some stuff... battery, wiring, etc. I think you are refering to the pinch weld between the inner fender and the outer fender.. and yes that is welded. Dont think it would be worth the time to split it and build a new "outer fender", probably easier to just build a new tube fender then build a battery mount and what ever else needs mounted.
On the other hand I have a samurai tub sitting on Toyota axles I could get rid of
PM me if I can be of any help... I live in Sacramento
TruckTrader 06-20-2009, 07:40 AM The easiest way to repair what you have would be to replace the entire front clip. The core support is what's between the fenders, and yes, yours is trashed. Removing the front clip is easy and is pretty much described above. I did the exact same thing (over backwards vertically then onto the drivers side) to my sammy a while back and it was not repairable after further inspection. Take a look at your transmission tunnel and the frame to make sure they are not tweeked.
I have swapped a 410 front clip on a sammy before but just know that you will need to use a 413 hood because the flat 410 hood will not fit. If you were in So Cal I could hook you up with a windshield frame and a ultra cool 410 front clip. Most likely your best bet is to start with a straight sammy and put all your parts on it. Good luck.
cajunsuzukispider 06-20-2009, 09:23 AM yeah, those philips head screws are almost impossible to get off, get a drill, drillbit, and chisel handy. perhaps even a grinder. ifyou can leave a little bit of the bolt sticking out, you can grab it with vise-grips to get it out. or drill it straight through. when the bit's almost through, it grabs and screws the rest of the bolt out through the back of the hole.
Baratacus 06-20-2009, 11:13 AM X2 on those phillip head screws... why in God's name did they ever use those damn things! When you do get them out don't put them back in, replace them with a hex bolt.
catfish<>< 06-22-2009, 03:14 PM cut the paint around the head of the phillups head then use an impact driver, it,s the paint that makes those so hard to get off, but don't take anything apart, pull the dents out, try to reverse the direction of impact, you could use your winch with snach or a hi lift or? clean it up with a hammer and dolly and finish er off with a new hood, good nuff

cajunsuzukispider 06-22-2009, 05:01 PM I don't know what makes 'em stick, the torque, sealant, paint, whatever, but I've tried impact drivers and got marginal results, some came off, some still wouldn't.
rattlecan78 06-22-2009, 05:17 PM were you at I have one good driver side fender and could probly come up with a hood and core support for you for minnimal cash outlay I'll give you my plastic grill for free if your close
