I thought I'd link this post for those of you who don't visit the land cruiser forum. It's well worth the down load

I didn't bother with the download. "Gettin It" is a relative term. If you've run the sluice box 500 times, and have conquered the toughest line 100 times in a row, is it really "gettin it" to do it again? On the other hand, if you're locking hubs for the first time & you're attempting a line that any stock TJ with a good driver could handle, perhaps to you that IS "gettin it".

I would call rolling off a 10-15 foot ledge, through a minus 6 point bonus gate, landing on your wheels, and driving out of the course GETTIN' IT

I'd like to see a stock TJ try that (how does your foot taste :flipoff2: )

WTF are you talking about? Dude, that video is one of the most impressive (maybe lucky) things I have ever seen in Rockcrawling. That was the BONUS GATE he rolled through! -6 points!

You can save that definition of "Gettin it" for raggin on newbie's in Gen Chit Chat.

Looks like we ALL need to read a little more carefully.

First of all, to those who read my comments, you might have missed where I said I did NOT look at the video D'OHH.

Now, for my own fawk up.

I read the title as

"I wouldN'T call this gettin' it"

I see now, it was "I would call this gettin' it".

Foot is in mouth, toes nearly chewed off. Please move forward with the thread.

Oh, and Toytek :flipoff2: :flipoff2: newbie :flipoff2:

I saw the same roll from a different angle on video last night, DAAAAMMMNNN! You guys were all gettin' it. Also saw video of Big Dude's Jeep hopelessly hung up and looking like it should be "Gettin" a new trans mount, sweet closeup of the transfer case trying to jump up and change the radio station.

I especially liked the freak running the tube Broncoish thing with the flat tire rolling off the edge of full throttle and landing HARD on the roof, roling back onto his wheels, and drivign right back up like nothing happened. Now that's GETTIN IT!

Also watched some produced video of the prevous Jellico event, damn sweet!

He'll be providing me with a new skid plate as soon as we can locate a stock one for a YJ :D (also a new sping or two for the front  ) He actually ripped the trans mount out of the skid plate, shoved the skid plate into the front driveshaft. Total list of vehicle carnage from syko (keep in mind all of this was done in only two obstacles)

-1 front spring is trash (needs to be replaced)
-1 front spring is bent but will live
-1 front shock has a bent shaft
-Front driveshaft could be jump roped (have spare)
-Skid plate is trash and was set up with 25" of clearance on the rig w/ 100" wheelbase (needs to be replaced)
-Tranny mount is trashed (but I can probably salvage it)
-Tie-rod was finished off (have spare)
-14 bolt cover is gone (we can find a new one for $5 )
-T-case is leaking fluid but should be OK (no cracks seen yet)

Syko and his spotter need to spend a lot of time driving on rocks before next season. But I think it was a good learning experience for them (learning that they don't know what they are doing :flipoff2: ) My Jeep should be back in shape within a few weeks, which is cool with me since I need a break anyway.

Unfortunately the only video my friend had of Big Dudes Jeep was the incident with the bent spring, lots of just sitting there watching the front jump rope shaft and not really getting anywhere, right after I finished telling him how bad-ass Jeep 2.5L's are.

I downloaded Quicktime for windows to watch the video (even though I saw the roll first hand). Installed easily and worked perfect.

Great video..I love it. One question, possibly stupid. Was that roll, uhh, the plan? :) It did appear he went over a cone but the I did notice he appeared on course at the bottom of roll.

He actually did hit a cone for a 10 point penalty. The whole roll cost him 4 points :(

Damn SG!

When you were on your lid 'mid roll' did you happen to think

'FAWK! WHY DON'T I HAVE MY 5 POINT HARNESS ON?' :flipoff2:

That's by far the quickest roll I've ever seen, almost a snap roll. You should put stick and rudder controls on it the next time. :D

When I first heard the audio I thought maybe Soja added some breaking dishes to the clip, hehehehe. The only thing in the rig that could make any noise (or is kinda loose) is the snatch block and d ring which were on a strap and the caribeaner on the end of the tugging rope, and they were secured under the passenger seat.

The roll and hard landing didn't really "ring my bell", time kinda slows down (at least for me) when you roll. Somehow I had the instinctive reaction to duck towards the center of the vehicle, and hold on to the wheel. I saw the rocks coming at me as I tumbled, when I landed on my wheels it was natural to let the clutch out and get with it.

When it first went down in the dip, I gassed it hoping to follow snoborder, who bounced his jeep across the dip. The video looks like it might have just tipped and layed there, but from the driver seat, all I saw was me going over the edge. Gassing it may have increased the velocity enough to get a full 360 out of it. Because looking back, if I am stuck down there on my side, Dennis and Sharon win the comp!

I do have a little tightness of the muscle covering my right kidney, less today than yesterday. Otherwise, I'm fine.........

Cruiser, well thats another story, who's got a good hood nearby?

IndyCJ, no 5 pts for me, I would have had to stay strapped against the seat, any of those rocks come at me and I'm not here (at least typing in complete sentences) today! 3" lap belts firmly bolted into place keep your ass in place just fine! NO that wasn't the plan, we aren't that damn smart! We still had 3 minutes left, we weren't even desperate yet!

and Rocksie, sorry you aren't gettin it! :D

First off I want to say we are beating a dead horse. I thought we were doing fine until #3. We received an 8 on number 1 and a 2 on number 2. Please look at all the legends scores. I think that was inline, if not better then most legends competitors. We made one bad line........Sorry.................. I'll bet no one else at that comp made a judgment error………. I've seen some of the best get high centered or even flopped because of a judgment error. No one is perfect...........I don't think that we did to bad for only driving the rig 30mins and having had a spotter that has never even been to a comp. Yes, your jeep is broken. Sorry, we have talked about this. Things happen. I told you I would help get it back together.

I never said I was a top 10 ARCA contender but I do wheel and have balls enough to try. That's definitely more then I can say about some. I understand you didn't want your jeep destroyed and in no way did I try to destroy it but it was a comp. How many rigs left the comp on Sunday with nothing broken or bruised? I also seem to remember you beating on that thing harder then I ever thought about on the rock pile after we put the 35’s on. You want to talk about getting it, Kevin had people getting the fawk out of the way.:D You even made the statement I tried to break it. I think the only thing that might happen is you bend a spring. We also talked about the 14 bolt cover even before the comp. I brought one for a spare but it was from a semi floater and didn’t fit. Sorry

It’s over and I will make this right. I just think that knocking my driving is not in order. I have now publicly said I was sorry and plan to help with the repairs what else do you want. I guess I’m a little touchy about this. Kevin this truly made me feel like $hit

I think we have both learned a good lesson here........... Don't drive someone elses rig or don't let someone borrow a rig for a comp.

What would have happened if I had rolled int the same spot spaceghost did..........It would have really fawked stuff up.

Picking up a skid plate from Shupee on Thursday, no cost since Foothills is my rig sponsor :D

Picking it up  How??? Well because I'm driving 700 miles to interview with Goodyear in Greenville on Thursday, then driving 700 miles home. Hopefully I'll get the job and my competition, living, and wheeling expenses will decrease by about 50%.

Goodyear, That's awesome. That means bigdude will have good deals on tires:D

Don't get rid of that fawked up skid plate. I'll pick it up from you some how and have Scranton built a skidplate that can't be bented. He's got the hookup for steal. would 3/8" be strong enough, how about 1/2":D I'm still looking for spares:D

Oh yea to get back on topic, I'm glad I finally got to see that flop. Great camera work!! Does anyone have the video of Rocky or Stacey hitting their head? It will make you want to put on you helmet. How about when Brian flopped and ended up on fire?

Darrel, you are a twisted guy but don’t stop doing what your doing:D
